I just went thru surgery for breast cancer; they caught it early and it was not in the lymph nodes.  I am taking tamoxifen and recovering well.  If anyone wants any information on my experience, I'd be glad to share.

    Hi Marlee,

Just curious. What kind of  cancer? What stage? What kind of surgery?

I had invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  It was Stage 1.  I had a mascetomy (my decision) because this was the second time I had to have biopsies for calcification.  The first time it was negative for cancer; this time, I was not so lucky.  Had a great team of surgeons which made all the difference.  Opted for a tissue expander during surgery (another good decision since it reduces the number of surgeries), and am taking tamoxifen with little to no side effects.  I recovered well (exercising helps) and have kept a good attitude.  The two weeks prior to the surgery, I was a complete mess (still in shock.)  But - you don't realize it until weeks later when you start to gain some normalcy again in your life.  Hope you are okay.
