3rd Time..2nd DCIS and a Tough Decision To Make

Options

I was diagnosed with my 1st invasive bc in my left breast in 2001 and DCIS in my right breast in 2003.  2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with DCIS again in my right breast.  This time around, I will need to have a mastecomy in my right breast.  The tough decision is what type of reconstruction I should have and the timeframe?  I am scheduled to go on 2 cruises, one at the end of Oct and the other in mid-December.  Should I wait until after both cruises or try to squeeze it in between the 2 cruises?  I know this may sound a bit odd to be concerned about cruising when I'm faced with a mastecomy.  Any thoughts on this?

You're posting this on the NO reconstruction section so the easy answer is, have your mastectomy as soon as you can and do not reconstruct.

Until my DH made his comments about the process, I just figured I would do it.  I'm glad I did not.  I know many women feel the need to do it and if they are inclined this way, more power to 'em.

I was a chicken but the thought of faster recovery was MOST inspiring to me so I opted for bilateral mastectomy and no reconstruction.   I was at work within 2 weeks.   Within a month, I felt decent and by 2 months, I barely noticed.  I had my bilaterals June 13.
