Pathology Reports and Grading

Options

I was reading my pathology report which says I am a Grade 2 out of 3 with comedo necrosis.  I've read articles stating if there is comedo necrosis then you are at a Grade 3.  I'm trying to get questions lined up for my next onco appointment and was hoping anyone out there could give me more info on this and if I should even ask about it.

I wish I could help but I can't - your question is something I've wondered about too.  I've read that comedonecrosis automatically means "Grade 3" but then I've seen many posts from women on this site who quote their pathology reports which say both "comedonecrosis" and "Grade 2".  Just guessing, but maybe it's the amount of comedonecrosis compared to the total amount of affected tissue that results in some tumors with comedonecrosis still be Grade 2?  Or if the comedonecrosis is isolated vs. widespread within the tumor?

I'd be interested to hear what your oncologist says about this when you speak to him.

My pathology report says grade 2-3. I guess it depends on how much they find.

It's definitely not an exact science, which doesn't make our decisions any easier!
