How to Best Help A Friend

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on how to best help a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and will be having reconstuctive surgery later this month?  I know this woman because she is the mother of a child my daughter goes to school with and she revealed to me today that she was diagnosed in August with Stage 2 breast cancer (she is 39).  She does have family in the area and we are not "best" friends - but I feel like I would like to help her in some way that might be useful, without being intrusive.  I was thinking of maybe planning to drop off a few prepared meals, maybe after she gets home from the hospital.  I'm not sure what would be the best way to help!  I thought maybe anyone who has "been there" might know of things that really helped them, or things they might have wished they could have had done, right after diagnosis and surgery that I might not necessarily think of, but that might be helpful.  Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
