Is anyone who is triple negative taking Tamoxifen or Arimidex or Femara in order to prevent a second breast cancer from occurring? I always said I would love to be able to take something, anything, to make sure I didn't have to go through this again. Today it was mentioned to me, not by my oncologist, but by another doctor, as a possibility. I've not read of anyone doing this. Are any of my triple neg. sisters doing hormone therapy for prevention? I'd be interested to hear from you, if so.

I'm taking Tamoxifen for 5 years to prevent a second bc. I don't think the research is very clear as to whether or not it really helps but I figured what the heck-I've already gone through Hell-it can't be that bad. The side effects aren't bad and it's cheap too. I just worry about a primary recurrance since there's nothing out there to prevent that from happening. Frown

Thanks for responding - I guess I'll consider it, then, if my  oncologist agrees.  If the side effects aren't debilitating, then what have I got to lose?  At least I'll feel like I'm doing something, even if it won't help prevent a primary recurrence.
