Please describe your hot flash experiences....
I feel like my hot flashes are getting worse- not in how often, but what happens when I have one. In addition to the sweating and warmth, I now feel sick with one- like a
headache, nausous, and even more aches and pains. Am I going crazy or anyone else feel anything like this?

When I was having them I would literally feel sick and weak after it was over. I was even out of breath afer a few of them.
It's time to call your onc and begin the search for a med that will help relieve you of some of the symptoms. effexor, megace, neurontin, get the onc on board with helping you find the med that is right for you and the dose that's right for you. You will have to give them time to work and see which is right. Good luck.

After my ooph my flashes got worse over time. My GYN suggested Donnatal at my last check up. It is used for irritable bowel syndrome, which I don't have. Works miracles on the hot flashes. I may have one or two at most a day now.

Mine first started with taxol. They were coming so frequently... I swear every couple minutes... and it was horrible! At my 2nd taxol infusion I told the oncologist and he put me on effexor. Within a couple weeks I didn't have any more. I think there have been maybe 2 times where I started getting night sweats but that passed in a couple weeks.

I seem to have switched to one continuous hot flash too!
I have tried the donnatal and it isn't helping anymore.
I am in chemo-pause from the abraxane.
How much effexor do you have to take? Is it a full dose??

Some days I get them so bad that I drip. We had red wine 2 nights in a row - they've been bad as a result. I forgot the effexor one day - could not figure out why I was absolutely soaking wet (everywhere but where it's important). One hot flash must have lasted 30 minutes or more!!!!!

We had company for dinner that night and I was having trouble coping - it was miserable. The next morning I went DUH! Will not forget again!!!

I have heard over the years that Effexor works very well for hot flashes.

It is an anti-depressant, and they found out it worked for hot flashes by accident.

    Might be worth a try.
