What Not to Wear

I've been watching this shop, "Dozens of Kids" on TLC and was looking at their web site. Nothing on that show, so I ended up on "What Not to Wear".

They highlight someone who had breast cancer and now has uneven breasts. The blurb doesn't do a great job of showing what they told her fashion-wise, but the video of her final result is touching. They have the new bras hanging on a line and she comes out and gets all emotional and cries, as does Stacy.

It's sweet.

That was sweet. I feel her frustration having just completed my bilateral exchange a few months ago. I've been bra shopping several times and can't seem to find anything that fits right. It can be quite depressing.

I teared up when I saw this. Thanks for sharing!

I have left a bra dept several times and cried in the car. I gave up and wore the leisure bras for several years. It was only this spring that I was finally fitted with a bra that I could wear comfortably and fit. SIGH

I remember seeing this, before I had breast cancer, and I thought they treated this issue with tenderness and sensitivity. I still don't have "proper" bras for "evenness" though I keep thinking I'll do that. I've just learned what to wear and what not to minimize the difference, and honestly, at this point, I don't mind if I show a bit lopsided. I've earned the "right", but I honestly don't think about it much anymore. And if people are looking at my chest, then what they see, is what they get!! I'm comfortable in my own skin now.
My only concern with their "advice" to this woman was about using an underwire bra to "lift" her breasts. I used underwire exclusively before breast cancer for that reason...for the lift. After having my lumpectomy I was told by my doctors to stay away from underwire bras, to minimize the possibility of lymphedema.

It's worth checking on their website Rose. I actually enjoy the program and I know they have "marathons" from time to time where they run old episodes. You might even be able to request it as part of an upcoming marathon segment. It would be perfect in October, wouldn't it?

Rose, thanks for posting this. I had a little tear welling up also. I had a mast and I found that I really like the contour bra the most. I had a great fitter. I'm getting ready to go bra "shopping" and will probably only buy contour bras this time. The other regular mast bras are still in good shape because I've just about worn my contour to death.

I love "What Not to Wear." I'll have to keep an eye out for this episode if replayed.
