Dancing with the Stars

interesting thought. I know a pro can make a big difference. My first summer of grad school, when I was in my early twenties, 6 of us were talking dancing at coffee one day. One of the guys had been a dance instructor for Author Murry's. The SUB had a meeting room big enough for three couples to do ballroom so we got permission to use it and Paul brought in a record player and records. Since he was tall and I was the tallest woman I got to dance with him. For 2 months we danced for 1 or 2 hours 3 or 4 times a week. So much fun . Normally I have two left feet but with him I felt like a pro.

Oh, yes, that spray tan would really help me...not! lol. I would love the costuming and getting my hair did, tho. Sadly, I'd prolly still have two left feet and dance like Wynonna or Billy Ray.
As for a professional pair-up, I can't say for definite sure, but Val comes to mind, as well as Mark.

I am rather partial to Gleb myself!
When I was in college, I worked at a camp. One of the male counselors was from a small German town (lots of dancing from a young age). When we would have days off, everyone would go into town and go dancing (in the disco days!). I am no dancer, but he was the best dancer I have ever danced with, he would just turn you around and press on your back so that you would go where he led. It was amazing and SO much fun....we actually won several dance contests (in bars....with drunken people...but still). So, I think if you did to dance with a pro, you would be surprised at how good you might look (although eventually I would still end up in a pile of Kleenex, like Andy Dick
).
-
Great story, Ruth!
-
Kindest would be Tony but if I'm in it to win it I'm going to choose Derek, let's just see how good he really is and hopefully as I'm going all the way I'll be able to drop those pesky 50lbs that have crept on over the years
-
Just got home from a month long vacation and watched the two final episodes this morning. Yea for Derek and Kelly but I thought Jacoby was good as well. I liked his sense of style and excitement that he brought to the dance.
-
I am missing DWS!!
-
me too
-
me three
-
OK then....which male and which female 'star' would you like to see as contestants in the upcoming season? No limits, except the star needs to be alive and able to move....(maybe later we could pick stars of the past)....I don't know my own answers so will have to think....
-
Halley Berry sp? and George Cluney
-
Johnny Depp for my guy because.....well, you can guess why!
I'm going off the beaten track and picking Jane Fonda for my lady.....she is in tremendous shape for her age & I think could get pretty deep into the competition.
-
Oh, wow! Jane Fonday would be amazing. I saw an interview she did about a year or two ago, and she and the man in her life go dancing all the time!
How about Kim Cattrall from Sex and the City? Could be interesting. And John Slattery from Mad Men. They are both a little older but I think they could both cut the rug pretty well. I also think we should see a few rock stars out there like Pat Benetar and (ha, ha, ha) Steven Tyler! THAT would be interesting, too!
-
Inspired by the movie "Shall We Dance", I'd vote for Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon.
However, I'd also vote for Len Goodman and J-Lo.
-
GRRRREAT choices, badger!!!!!!!
-
In fact, I heard a rumor that the judges contracts are up, so there may be some upheaval there before the next season...and the very best way to get ratings would be to oust one or more of them and have them return, then, as contestants!!!!!!
-
OMG that would be hilarious! I think Len and Carrie-Ann would do well, but what about Bruno??
-
OK those of you that know me IRL know I have a very sick sense of humor so here goes.....
I think Paul Deen might be available
yes I said it....
and my male choice is David Beckham and if he wants to dance in his underwear I'm not going to complain
-
Oh yes!

I caught the E channel/Brooke Burke one-hour interview by Guliana Rancic this afternoon. It seems pretty recent. I don't care for Brooke, but the show interested me. I don't care for Guliana Rancic, either (that's just me), but surprisingly, I liked her interviewing style. She asked the right questions. When Brooke would talk on a subject, Guliana asked further questions, the same ones that were formulating in my head as Brooke talked. Guliana allowed Brooke to have the spotlight and didn't talk over her or rush the interview.
It looks like Brooke needs to stop with the plastic surgery now, tho. Both gals seem to have an odd facial appearance. And they both ran their hands over their hair way too many times; very distracting. But I guess you try to glam it up for the camera. And Brooke's hubby...oo la la.
