I saw my rads onc this morning (annual check up 4 years out - all was fine!) - while I was there I was asked if I wanted to sign up for a pilot program for access to a web portal to receive my test results online - I jumped at that.

Signed up in 20 minutes and just logged on - it's in development now so there is only 6 months of historical test results (and my April mammogram report was there) but they're adding history and other functions as they roll it out. As I understand it I will be able to view my future tests results as soon as they are in the PMH system.

This project is being funded by the monies raised from the Weekend to End Breast Cancer walks - in addition PMH has opened a Rapid Diagnosis Breast Clinic - biopsy/results/surgeon visit the same day - finally some tangible results from the Weekend to End (I didn't count the new waiting room decor as tangible results).

Very cool!! Hopefully that will be the norm at all hospitals very soon.

My oncologist at Sunnybrook told me that this is available to me too. She did caution me that seeing the raw data without having her manage the delivery to me may cause me to be anxious but encourgaged me to sign up.

Yes - I had heard that Sunnybrook was testing it awhile ago. Part of the PMH test is to figure what (any?) support goes with the access to the test results..............it sounded like they're going to test a phone line and/or nurse navigator type of companion to the program - I have long thought PMH needs a nurse navigator program - I think Sunnybrook has them?

The issue your onc raises is a good one - the desire to have information as soon as possible versus receiving bad news in an unstructured format - although so often I hear complaints about how oncs deliver bad news and the lack of information in that appointment that I think perhaps this system can make the whole thing more productive (but they don't call me Pollyanna for nothing!) - all the best to you

Cool! Thanks for the info. I'm not back there till November for my next mammo but I hope that I'm able to join the pilot.
