I know this is the time of year for all of those good home-grown tomatoes, it is hard to deny that they are so good for you and delicious.
I have a new favorite. It may be a hydrid type, and hard to find. My friend, who is a grower brings them to me...OMG, please try to find them if you can, they are called Cherokee Chocolates. They are small, but larger than than cherry and grape toms. They are red and green in color and purplish when very ripe. I cut one in half for my friend and topped it with some Kosher salt, she asked if it had Balsamic vinegar, because it was so sweet and tasty!
Also, tonight I served some SunGold tomatoes, they are yellow, and small like grape toms, I had a customer ask me if they were grapes!
Tomatoes are so sweet and precious this time of yr and so good for you if you can find either of these varieties in your areas, mostly at Farmer's Markets- give yourself a special treat!!

Oh, does anyone else have a special fav of tomatoes, I know I also like them green and fried- but that doesn't fit in this forum! lol

I just did a search on both Cherokee Chocolate Tomatoes and Sun Gold Tomatoes and there is alot of info on the web about them both.
Maybe next year, we can be growing our own!!

Thanks for the info, ChristineK. Tomatoes was one of the few things I could actually enjoy while on AC so I've eaten quite a few this summer. Just recently,I discovered a farmer's market that has lots of different varieties. I'm trying everyting. They'll see a lot of me from now on.

If you know of a good website to tell me the varieties and how they taste I'd appreciate it.
