I hugged Elizabeth Edwards!
Well, the Iowa State Fair has been a destination spot for all of the candidates, so Elizabeth was in with John yesterday and spoke at our rally.
I weasled my way up to the front when she was done and right after she did an interview, I went up and said "can I just give you a hug?" She was very warm, I told her I was a 1 year survivor and that lots of people were thinking of her. She wished me the best of luck and gave me a very genuine hug.
One part of her speech that was so true....400 women in Iowa die of breast cancer each year. If those 400 women were trapped in a mine or on a bridge over the river, all available resources would be sent to save those women. Why can't breast cancer be the same? It really hit home.
(then later on my way to get Cheese Curds there was a huge group of people. I was trying to make my way through the crowd to get my fried fat and here comes Barak Obama. I got to shake his hand. I felt like Forest Gump when he's in the background with all of the presidents).
Thought I'd share my great day!
Jen

Awesome! I'd love to give Elizabeth a big hug too and tell her I'm voting for HER for president! As my daughter's friend says..."she's so sassy!"

I think Elizabeth is such a wonderful role model for anyone with a life-threatening disease. How great you were able to have that moment!
I like what she said about if 400 women were trapped in a situation....the response would be tremendous.... -
Wow, what a great experience!

I saw her and her husband at Whole Foods mid-chemo. EE and I both had dose-dense with treatments the same week so I had my wig on and she had her's. I considered saying something, and i regret that I didn't. I was going through a phase of feeling like I was sick of being the Cancer Woman and I hesitated to make her the Cancer Woman in public from a total stranger. I think it wold have been nice though. Wish I could give her a hug as well.

Lucky Jen!! I wish I had that opportunity but we don't see many candidates in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, at least that I 've noticed but I might have been distracted with my less than perfect mental acuity

I love her! I would love to see her in person. She is an inspration.
