LOL Linda I feel for you AND the mosquito! I haven't had that happen but I can imagine that your body might've reacted differently considering all of the meds. When I lived in GA I would get what I was told were spider bites (YUCK!) in that area. They always turned up after a night's sleep and they'd last a week or so.
I hope it goes away soon and isn't too itchy!
Hugs

Over the past few years this has happened with every bite I get. Most blow up to the size of my fist or larger. My doc said that I developed an allergy, which isn't uncommon. My friend's husband developed the same thing, but his is so bad that he has to carry medication with him similar to that of people who are allergic to bees. I don't think it has anything to do with chemo or cancer because it's not uncommon to develop allergies as we age.

Linda, LOL I thought it was just me. During chemo, NO bites at all, it is like they could smell the poison. Now, every bite turns into a huge hard hot spot. Turns the typical white spot first. Also other people will not get bit if I am there. It's like a swarm. The only way I can describe it is it turns into a welt! I now carry spray with me.
I can understand developing allergies as we age, but in my case it was as soon as the chemo cleared my system. Never happended before. Also never had high cholesterol before and now am testing elevated. Too much of a coincidence for me. LOL -
Thanks for the replies. I thought I was alone in this.
Madalyn, I hear you about the panic over every little thing. Hopefully in time that will ease up for all of us some.
I agree I understand about getting allergies as we age too. Marsha you described it to a T, a big hard spot. I was in the hot tub Friday night and now have another bite on my arm. And yep, itch like crazy then a red welt, now a hard spot. Finished chemo in May and never ever had this before. Too coincidink for me. I hope your cholesterol levels out, I wonder if the chemo drugs did that too? Maybe have it checked again in a couple of months to make sure.
Yuck on the spider bites Poppy. I can't imagine what a spider bite would do if a little ole mosquito turns me into a frenzy!
Hugs to everyone !!

My friend's husband who has to carry medication with him told me that if I ever see vertical lines in the bitten area to go directly to the ER because this could mean poisoning.

I wear insect repellent. I got a mosquito bite on the arm at risk for lymphedema a yr after treatment and worried, but no harm done.
