weekly Taxol
I keep reading here that weekly taxol is the way to go for triple negative. Does anyone know where I can get this info to show my oncologist, she says DD 4 T is the best. I will be finishing up my AC this week and just want to make sure I'm doing everything possible. Thanks

I had the DD of AC and weekly of Taxotere not Taxol. My doctor was the one that recommended it. I'm 44, BRCA1, trip neg and this is my second occurrence. My first was age 32.

Gagal - I had four dose-dense Adriamycin/Cytoxin, then 16 weekly Taxol with a Carboplatin infusion every four weeks. (Yep, that was six months of chemo.) I don't know where my onc came up with this protocol, although Carboplatin is supposed to be promising for triple negatives and my husband and I felt we should do everything possible while I was strong.
Good luck in your treatment - I found the Taxol/Carbo much less difficult that the Adriamycin Cytoxin. -

I did 6 DD A/C and then 12 weekly Taxol. I was part of a clinical trial to see if longer treatment would be helpful. I think the 4 DD A/C and 4 DD Taxol is still the "standard" treatment, but I think more and more folks are getting variations. You can always seek a seocnd opinion, even at this place in treatment...just an idea.
I have also heard that the weekly Taxol is easier on the body...maybe so, but getting it weekly, I never had that "good" week in between when I was not getting chemo.
Good luck what ever treatment you get!
Hugs

I was triple neg, dx at 37 - 4 years ago. My onco was a cutting edge guy - and I told him treat me as strongly as possible. We did DD A/C followed by 12 weekly taxol. You may not believe this - but I and all I knew going through the weekly version had almost no bad effects. I NEVER felt "bad" except when I was actually receiving the treatments and that was due to the other meds. The thing that weekly taxol DID do was make me lose my eyebrows and lashes (AC did not take those), make me lose my period (again, kept it during AC), and give me nosebleeds. I felt good again. I am glad to hear that it is still being offered. My onco gave me a copy of a research paper that called weekly taxol the way to go. It wasn't common back then and I guess it still isn't - I've been away from the boards a long time. Good Luck! Soak it up - you'll feel better soon.
