Metastatic disease

I was wondering if there are any triple-negative ladies out there who have been diagnosed with stage IV, metastatic disease, and who have used a platnum based chemotherapy agent such as carbopltin/cisplatin that did not have any success with this chemotherapy?
I keep reading stories here and other places where ladies swear by one or the other platnum based chemo drug that has worked for them. Is the medical world paying attention? Are they starting to see a trend here?
Let 's hear about your success or failure with such chemo drugs?...Tell us your story....

    Bimmer,
My mother received Platinum, Cobalt Radiation, Mega Radical Mastectomy, and what they called "pain cocktails", along with Tamoxofin (even though she was likely triple neg), in the early 80's. She had inflammatory cancer, lived 3 and a half years, when her immune systems went to pieces. She had these treatments all at the same time...same days...it was horrendous, barbaric, but she wanted life, loved living, and had she stayed home and rested instead of going out and about, she probably would have survived even longer.

Amazingly, the platinums have come such a long way, and are saving many lives. I don't remember if I mentioned my friend who has colon cancer (lives in seattle), had to go tthrough a clinical trial when he found out he had Stage 4 colon cancer. He took Carboplatin (Cisplatin?), after surgery, and is NED as of today. This was 2 years ago, and he's feeling wonderful, doing well, and thanks the research hospital at University Hosp. Washington State for a speedy, remarkable recovery. He's now creating glass and wood (carpenter) sculptures, and feels better than he has in years.

Bimmer, I think you are blessed. Wish more husbands were as caring as you. Makes me think of magic gardens, valentines, doves, peace, love and eternal romance when ever I'm lucky enough to read your emails.

It's good to know your wife is doing well, thanks for letting us know how it goes; great news!

Lucky in love, to you and your sweet wife!

    Be well,

I have lung mets and had no response to Carboplatin. I am triple neg and BRCA 1 positive. I haven't found any other chemo that will work on my mets. I am about to undergo a stem cell transplant(clinical trial) and will see if that helps.

    Jillt,
My heart goes out to you and aches for you.
I wish I knew you. I wish I could hug you.
I hope I don't walk in your shoes. I'm sorry for saying that, I know it's selfish.
I'm so sorry for you. I can't imagine what your feeling even though, I too am trip neg and BRCA 1 positive.
    I'm scared.
I have moments of denial, and moments where all I can think about is the here after. I hope that you are at peace with what is after this life, even though, you might go on living for many, many years.
I have no idea how old you are ..............
I know I am being bold in saying these things....
Please know, I only I ...... my heart .... I hope you beat this thing.
    Sincerely,
    Traci

    Traci40. Jilt,

    Thankyou for the words.

My heart is in zommbeeland, it's lost, but it feels
equation of emotions distorted by life with cancer, and an oddball mutated furball tossed in the works as well.
    Tears, like rain...

    Be well
