I'm right there with ya LuAnn! I'll be at the game next week against the Saints. I am ready for some football!
-
Are you near Cincinnati? If so, check out the Bengals website, they are honoring breast cancer survivors at the Bengals/Steelers game in October. If they pick you, you get FREE tickets to that game!!!! I have had so many people nominate me now. They are going to pick 30 survivors to be honored, so I would check it out! Who knows we might both get to go and meet those handsome guys!!!
LuAnn -
I am in Northern Kentucky and I am a seaon ticket holder. I was at the game last year when they did this. My sister saw it on their web site this year, and she started an email campaign to get people to nominate me. It would be so amazing if we both get picked! Keep me posted and Go Bengals!
-
I'm a Patriots fan but am thrilled that football is back! Woo Hoo! I actually go into withdrawel in Feb when the season is done. Our first preseason game is tonight!
That's really neat that they have the program for survivors...good luck! -
Yup we watched the LIONS!!
-
I bleed black and gold--go Steelers--I know you Bengals fans don't like me, but football is my first love ( after my kids , dog and family, of course. )
-
Sandif - I'm with You! GO STEELERS!!! btw, they beat the Saints in the first pre-season game on Aug 5th, 20 - 7!

LuAnn - That's awesome about honoring BC survivors! Can you be a Steeler fan to be nominated? I guess I'll check out the site! -
Well dang, I can't beat that great Steelers logo! I am from San Diego and our city fathers are in the process of letting the Chargers get away. We are heartbroken.
But I can't imagine the Steelers without your old coach. He was the heart and soul. Oh well, nothing stays the same.
Anyway, we are all eager and excited here. Enough of all the other sports! Wish they could play oftener, like baseball, but I know the game is to hard and rough for that.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but we had a tackle named Ron Mix who is in the Hall of Fame and I went to my Whippet club meeting and guess who was there? Ron Mix and his wife Patti. I was speechless, then I blurted out, "Ron Mix, OUR Ron Mix?" He laughed and said it was such a compliment.
So much fun.
Hugs, Shirlann -
It is so much fun. DaBears start their opener this weekend. And Ill be watching the Saints tonight.
Are ya ready for some football?
Go Bears!
Nicki -
Shirley, that's terrible about teams moving. I'm so glad I can never see that happening with the Steelers! What a ruckus that would cause ... we have fans Everywhere!
I'm going to miss Coach Cowher so much .. just loved that jutting jaw and big smile. He had a great rapport with the players and fans. I remember when he started and thought that nobody could replace Chuck Noll. They were both such Great coaches. I'm crossing my fingers for # 3. Not too many teams can say they've had less than a handful of coaches in their entire history. Just love the tradition. Woo hoo, I'm excited!
LuAnn - I just looked at the schedule and noticed the Bengals play my Steelers on 10/28 which is my youngest daughters birthday and also on 12/2 which is my oldest daughters birthday! How bizarre is that .. I'm hoping it is good luck for my team! lol Can you send a link regarding the honoring of the BC survivors? I can't find it on the Bengals site.
Charlene -
OK, had to go get a Pats logo!

We play the Chargers on 9/16, the Bengals on 10/1 and the Steelers on 12/9!
Go Pats! I can't wait! -
Here is the link for breast cancer surviors and the bengals game http://www.bengals.com/community/index.asp As for Cohwer, that man never smiles, I can't figure out what you are talking about. He seems like such a mean and nasty man, but I guess looks can be decieving. I am just glad the guys are back and playing again!
LuAnn -
I love all this football talk. Cowher did have a way with the guys. I miss that jaw already. My son can mimic that jaw look so that's the best we can do. May the best team win this year!!!
-
I bought some Jets socks yesterday and can't wait to wear them (too hot for socks lately). Still hunting for some Giants socks. I can't wait 'till the season starts! And Lynn - I thought you were cool! But you're a PATRIOTS fan?!?! Say it isn't so!!
Go Gang Green
Go Big Blue (we miss you, Tiki!) -
Gotta watch those Saints "go marching in".....
-
Kiai,
HAH! LOL. Last year we went to our first Patriots game. It was the game at Gillette against the Jets. A really warm balmy November Sunday IN THE POURING RAIN. They called it the fog bowl because we couldn't see the other side of the stadium during the game, that's how foggy it was. Kind of eery. Anyway, the Pats lost to the Jets...we've always said that if we won that game, the AFC championships would have been at Gillette...oh well, it's another year!
And, I have to admit, that I have had more than 1 dream that Tommy (Brady) is my close personal friend. My husband said the other day 'Your buddy got best dressed' hahahaha!
I'm so glad it's football! YAY! -

LuAnn, Cowher Does smile but granted he's a Tough coach with the meanest frown around! However he's well respected and well liked by anyone who has ever played for him! He gives a great interview and actually seems very nice. Thanks for the link! Here's a smile for you!

And the famous frown that None of his players ever wanted to see because it meant they did something he disapproved of!:
-
Just remember. Not too many quarterbacks want to face this guy.

And on the opposite end of the rainbow. Not too many Bears fans are happy we still have this loser.
Let the games begin
Nicki -
G, did you catch the Jets game last night?!? I'm a little worried; when they start out playing well in the pre-season, they usually have a rocky start in the regular season. But they looked pretty good!
Go Gang Green -
I love this thread - not because I am a football fan - I'm not. But I love all your enthusiasm. I hope you all have great seasons.
Claire -
The Jets got my beloved running back - Thomas Jones. And we got stuck with the cry baby running Benson. What a world.
Nicki -
Pats lost last night, but I'm not worried, they usually lose half of their preseason games.
-
Go Eagles!
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! -
I figure preseason is really just practice to figure out which of the 2nd & 3rd string guys you want to hold onto. Seeing as everyone is playing them I don't put too much stock into them.
LuAnn -
True SILVER AND BLACK here.
I know, I know. But we love our neanderthal boys.

AND. . . .
Our 49ers. Rest in Peace Mr. Bill Walsh.
Best ever quarterback. "The Come Back Kid" Do you know where that comes from?
REST IN PEACE BILL . . . You were also The Best.
-
LuAnn: I agree about preseason. It just doesnt keep you on the edge of your seat like regular season does. But I did get a thrill from DaBears game last night. Thanks once again to Robbie Gold.
Its fun saying DaBears won.

CHIEFS!!!
I have a feeling this will be a long year unless we get Larry Johnson signed. But Donnie's back so that makes up for something!
I have tickets to a preseason game but doubt I go - it's been too HOT. Had to get them with a package to see Denver in Nov.
Anyway - love football season and am ready to go see some PSU games and spend Sundays watching the CHIEFS! -
CBarbie, Hi.
Our boys "did good" on Sunday against the Cardinals didn't they. I never give up hope. They are kind of like Montana and can come back in the most amazing ways to give us that big giant smile.
Go RAIDERS * * *
