I just read an article in Parent or Parenting Magazine (I mix them up all the time...).

It was an excerpt from a book called, "Cereal for Dinner," by a mom who underwent some pretty major heart issues. She wrote some tips and pointers on how to relinquish control to your spouse, family and friends when you are sick. It was really very good and insightful-I wish I had been aware of it when I was first diagnosed. I could identify with the Mom's tendency to want to do it all, regardless of how she felt.

So, I recommend this book (though I only read a snippet from a mag) to Mommies who are about to embark on a rather tiresome journey known as breast cancer.

Love and prayers, Debbie

Sounds like a good book - I just ordered it from my library and am number one on the list! Thanks!

My mother was sick quite a lot when I was growing up. My siblings and I *still* remember (with glee!) the morning my dad let all 4 of us kids have ice cream for breakfast!

Cereal for Dinner (or Ice Cream for Breakfast) is a win-win situation for everyone!

Some of my kids favorite memories from their childhood revolve around food ... especially the time the grease caught fire when I was making funnel cakes for them. Didn't burn down the kitchen but it was exciting. They also love the stories about Nachos for dinner when things had been just too hectic. Little did I know what hectic was!!! Last night, after a wild Sunday, DH & I sat on the patio with drinks and Nachos for dinner. Ahhhh.. Now that's LIFE!!!

And I love cereal for dinner ... the real thing, haven't read the book yet!

I love cereal for dinner some nights. I buy fresh big plump strawberries and the sweetest smelling peaches at Whole Foods and have one or the other sliced on top of the cereal. Yummmmmmmmmmm

One of my favorite memories of childhood and my Mom is when she would make pancakes for dinner. We thought that was the biggest treat ever.
