A million toys recalled from Fisher Price....made by a Chinese Vendor.....lead in the paint! Just heard it on the news and went to drudgereport for the link. Check your toy boxes........includes BIG BIRD....sesame street toys.

Funny thing.....I was just telling my daughter about not trusting any of the baby cups and bowels that were made in china of plastic. Who is to know what is in those items???????????

This is definately the final straw for me. I will not purchase anything made in China.......that I can find out about. CHINA could clamp down on their people for everything else in the past.........yet can't clamp down on these companies producing defected products. I think the government does not care.....and is trying to build up their military with our dollars as quick as they can. We should really watch out for this dictator government!

Thanks, Terry. I just sent this to my daughter.

This just makes me sick. How many babies are chewing on lead paint! And Fisher Price toys are not cheap!

Why can't our government see that this China isn't worth a hoot?

There is a book titled something like "A year without 'Made in China'" which I gather is getting good reviews. I've started to avoid "made in China", but you do have to work at it. I'll buy stuff if I can't imagine any way it could be toxic.

Overall I think this will be a good thing. I don't really need much stuff so I'll buy less junk, I'll spend less money, there will be less pollution due to shipping, less landfill from packaging.

I looked very closely at that list of toys since I have dilly. Nothing here, but her mommy has to check when she gets home. It's scarey what could happen to little kids.

I hope it is OK to post these articles about China.....but you probably heard by now that they are recalling jewelry made for children from China. After hearing about this latest recall.....I told my daughter that China will react in somekind of threatening way. WELL THE NEXT LINK GIVES YOU AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT THEY MIGHT DO IF WE PUT MORE TRADE SANCTIONS AGAINST THEM.

CHINA'S THREATS MAY BE BLESSING IN DISGUISE

    By MarketWatch

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Reports Wednesday suggested that Chinese officials have
begun threatening a concerted series of foreign reserve sales to deliberately weaken
the U.S. dollar and punish the U.S. Congress for its efforts to impose trade tariffs.

    We should be so lucky.

Such sales would effectively accomplish what China's congressional critics want --
i.e. reduce U.S. imports -- while at the same time destroying part of the value of
    China's foreign exchange holdings.

Massive sales of U.S. treasuries would doubtless cause interest rates to rise and,
combined with the already faltering U.S. housing market, probably push the U.S.
economy into a recession we're probably overdue for.

The real question the Chinese leadership must resolve is whether the damage to their
own country's economy, or at least to its apparatchiks and nouveau oligarchs, would
    be any less severe.

In some ways the U.S. relationship to China is a variant of the old saying: If you
owe a billion dollars, the bank owns you. If you owe a trillion dollars, you own the
    bank.

As China's most significant export market, a healthy U.S. economy means China has a
place to offload all the plastic gizmos it can make, along with toys covered in
lead-based paints and tubes of toxic toothpaste.

Maintaining blistering growth has been important enough for China's own "political"
leadership that they've been willing to subsidize U.S. consumption by buying up U.S.
debt and keeping interest rates low.

At some point that will have to change. China will have to let its currency's
appreciation against the dollar accelerate, irrespective of what anybody in Congress
    says.

So Americans should probably be grateful. After all, as long as we're heading down
this mountain with no brakes on, we're better off having the accident sooner rather
than later, even if the collateral damage takes out a few politicians on both sides
    of the Pacific.

I agree with correcting the market...........but I was more concerned about tainted products coming our way that could damage our health....and my thought was what would the Chinese do..... should we put a hold on unhealthy items coming our way....such as lead in childrens toys.....counerfeit drugs....etc.

    Love,
    Terry
