Update on Mom

Well, hospice has arrived. Mom's on morphine and oxycodone. She sleeps almost all the time. When she wakes up, she's pretty alert and aware of things. Hospice only spends a couple of hours a day, 5 days a week. The majority of her care is still on us. My legs feel like jello. We're so tired. We made funeral arrangements yesterday. It was much easier than when my dad died a few months ago. We didn't make his arrangements until after he passed. We were way too emotional to make sound decisions. I would recommend to anyone who knows their loved one will pass, make the arrangements beforehand.

For now, we're praying this is over for her soon.

Thanks to everyone for your support and prayers.

Patty

    Patty,

My heart goes out to your mom, you and your family. Hospice can usually offer respite care so that you and your family can get some rest. Be sure and inquire about that.

You are doing a wonderful thing for your mom. My prayers are with you. Thank you for the update. We will be here for you,

So very sorry Patty that you are having to deal with your Mom being so ill. Hospice is also a very good choice. It is harder on the family but I would want my Mom to pass at home too if at all possible.

You are exactly correct in making arrangements before her death. My husband and I are in the funeral business and we deal with death and families daily. You will make better choices while your head is clear.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers....

    huggs, Sherry
