triple neg
Hi everyone... I am new to posting but have been reading the board for about 4 months now. I was diagnosed with IDC stage 3C,triple neg, positive lymph nodes on April 3,2007. Tumor size 8.5cm..... No cancer in my family. I just completed my 5th round of Chemo (TAC). I have one more round to go and then surgery followed by radiation. I had an ultrasound last week which revealed significant response to the treatment,in fact, very little evidence of the tumor. GREAT NEWS!!! Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know how grateful i am to have found you all as I had just about given up on life after my diagnoses. I am 47 years old and never had any real medical problems prior to this so this just about did me in !! Hope to hear from everyone and looking forward to joining in on discussions. Best of luck to all.

Hugs and welcome mmc...your situation and mine sound pretty similar. This board has been very helpful to me as well. I was Dx'd in January, completed my neo-adjuvant chemo (4 DD AC, 4 DD Taxotere), bilat mastectomy on June 6, full AND on July 6...and I think I'm done! My tumor virtually disappeared on the T.
You might also want to join one of the chemo groups here (organized by the month treatment started) then you'd be able to hook up with a few women at the same stage of treatment. -
Hi Twink... Thanks for the welcome. I'm glad to hear you are done and I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm so ready for this to be over for me!! I am really nervous about surgery and I'm not sure what I want to do as for reconstruction, if any. I have only had one consult with my surgeon so far in which she said I would need a tissue expander. I was really hoping for immediate reconstruction but was told that was not an option for me. I also was considering having both breast removed but my surgeon did not seem to want to do that. I am under the impression that, based on the advanced nature of my cancer, the tissue expander, prior to radiation , is the only option for me. Anyway, there are so many things to consider. So how many positvie lymph nodes did you have and did you do radiation? At the time of my diagnosis I had at least 8 positive lymph nodes. Well I could ask a million questions but will save some for later!! Hope you have a great day and thanks for the tip on joining one of the Chemo groups... I'm heading that way now. mmc.

Hi mmc,
I had micromets to three nodes, including two sentinel nodes. The other 14 were clean when they went back in for the full axillary node dissection. That was a relief even though the 3 wiht micromets worry me very much. I had the bilat and immediate reconstruction with silcone implants and alloderm. I didn't want to go the expander route and, fortunately, I won't have to have radiation. Send me a private message mmc if you'd like to talk some more... I can't say as I have much 'advice' but I'm certainly willing to relate my experiences to you if it helps at all. Hugs.
