I was curious about something. I hope someone will answer.
I ask in all sincerity. Ladies, as lesbians, do you feel that
you are singled out at all, or treated differently by doctors or nurses if they know your orientation?

I'm just asking. this is NOT a homophobic question.
My sister is gay, and came out years ago. I love her.
She is so supportive. She is taking off HER sick time, for ME to fly out here after the surgery. My sister is so cool, her partner is kind of.. well.. not fun.. but my sister isn't fond of my hubby , LOL so it all evens out!
anyway.. I'm wondering more and more about discrimination.
that's all. Thoughts anyone?

I haven't encountered any problems with my recent diagnosis and treatment, but years ago I had a horrible encounter with an OB/Gyn that stopped me from going to any doctor for about 12 years. I think attitudes are slowly changing, but there is still plenty of hate out there. Here's a link to an incident last year (it's on a blog because the original news link has expired):

I haven't had any problems with the medical community. My problems have come from other breast cancer survivors who don't "approve" of the "lesbian life style" (a direct quote)--

your post didn't come across at all as homophobic btw.
