I'm so afraid for my mom. She will go for a full Mastectomy on Thursday. She has lost so much weight and can hardly walk. My mom does not know what stage she is in. Oncology have not order a biopsy because it will be too painful. However, the blood shows she have cancerous cells. On Monday they will do a CT & PET scan. I am sure that her oncology and surgeon think she is in stage IV. How do I break the news to her if her cancer has spread? She has so much hope that God is going to heal her. My grandmother die twenty five year ago of liver cancer and she also die with hope that God was going to heal her.

I would think that the burden of talking with your mother about her prognosis will be on her doctors. As far as her outlook on her outcomes, perhaps she has the experience of watching her own mother's hopes and their outcomes.
I hope she will do everything possible to fight her cancer and that she will be treated by the best medical care available.
Something tells me that your mother likely knows that her cancer has already spread. Most times people who don't seek medical care when they know something is wrong with them, know that they are already very ill. Especially since she has already lost so much weight, she probably has a pretty good idea that she is very ill.
My heart goes out to you. It is hard to be with our family who does not seed the kind of treatment we think they should, but we have to accept that they are doing what they choose, not what we choose.
