I'm going for my 4th week of radiation. I have pain under my breast due to burn from the treatments. It hurt quite a bit. Does anyone with this same situation have had precription pain killer precribe for the pain? I've tried over the counter pain killer but with no success..

I have a lot of pain IN my breast from rads, as well as a burn under the breast that is somewhat painful. I had to ask for prescription pain med--the OTC stuff wasn't touching the pain. You have to ask for prescription pain meds, though, they won't offer them.

I've heard Salvadine topical is great for rad burn pain.  You might try the head Doctor of your 'team'.  My team consists first of my Breast Surgeon, and he introduced me to everyone else I needed.  Since it all began with him, if I find I need pain meds to help with radiation, he's the one I'll be contacting, or his office anyway.

I'll be doing Brachytherapy and I'm betting I'm going to be needed the meds since it entails reopening my breast and putting a long thingy into the tumor cavity which will protrude out of my breast by about 6" or so.  I will have to wear it during the week of Rad, so I'm betting it's going to be hurting daily.  I'm hoping not but I can't see how it wouldn't be?  I'll sure be asking for pain meds if it does though.
