IV Vitamin C Treatment

Options
Hi everyone! I have not posted here in a long time as I have been NED since last year. Unfortunately, my sister, who was also diagnosed 3 months after I was, is having a recurrence. She has sworn off all chemo, and will only do VERY high dose I.V. Vitamin C and a macrobiotic diet (along with her supplements). She owns a wellness clinic in our home town, so she is not a layperson. She is also a nurse and her husband a doctor. I'm frustrated that she seems to be shunning all traditional medicine and will ONLY use alternative treatment. (We were also both triple negative). Has anyone heard anything about this type of treatment?
She said that she has solid proof that it has worked (through research studies). We are all just so worried about her
Thanks ladies and god bless you all!

What research studies? How many people were in them? Were they double-blinded where nobody knew what their therapy was? Did they compare conventional treatment to this therapy?

When it comes down to your life I think you have to go with the "numbers". I would want to know that THOUSANDS of women had been tested with this therapy in comparison to current conventional therapies!

I don't blame you for being frustrated, but she's made her choice. Probably the best you can do is pray for her.

I have heard of the IV Vit C treatments but have not tried it myself. Here is a link from PubMed on a study they did. Looks very promising. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez...p;dopt=Abstract

I think one important thing here is to support your sister no matter what path she chooses. Additude is very important in cancer healing. I know your worried about her, and I'm sure she is worried about you too. While I don't agree with some people's choice of treatment, either conventional or alternative....I still support them as we have BC and need to support each other.

Treatment paths are very personal decisions and she has a good background to make informed decisions. I have also heard very promising things about Vit C treatments and would do them myself if anyone around here offered them. Best wishes to you and your sister!

"High doses of vitamin C injected into the bloodstream may be effective at combating cancer, a US team from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, reports in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

It found that the vitamin, in the form of ascorbate, killed cancer cells in laboratory conditions. Cultures of a range of nine cancer and four normal cell types were studied by the team.

In five of the cancer lines there was a 50 per cent decrease in cell survival, while normal cells were unaffected. Growth of lymphoma cells was reduced by at least 99 per cent."

    And

The institute's research documents that vitamin C, when used in combination with the amino acids L-lysine and L-proline and a polyphenol fraction of green tea known as Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), could not only kill cancer cells, but limit tumor growth, its infiltration by blood vessels (angiogenesis), and completely stop the invasion and spread of more than two dozen cancer cell types. While the NIH study showed a 50 percent decrease in survival of cancer cells exposed to high doses of vitamin C in five out of nine cancer cell types, the combination of nutrients used by Rath's group was effective not only in eliminating cancer cells, but in arresting cancer cell tissue invasion -- a hallmark of metastasis responsible for 90 percent of deaths from cancer.

    Hi Rose,

Thank you so much for your response. I know that my sister has some very solid research data from very reliable, traditional sources. I agree that it is still in the infancy stages, but I know that she had SUCH a horrible time with chemo last time (she had every single side effect possible) that she should have been in a wheelchair. She is scared to death of that happening again. I'm sure you if you your own research, you will see that the studies are real. I came to this board because I assumed that the women in this category were well researched into alternative treatments. I will pray for her and for you and everyone one this board.

    God bless,

Thank you SOOOO much for your kind and helpful messages. I actually forwarded them and the links to my family so that they understand that my sis and her husband are not just quacks. (Speaking of Quacks, if anyone ever points out "Quackwatch" to you, contact me and I will send you some links that shows them to be big frauds!!!!)
Anyway, again, I appreciate your help and concern. Good luck to you all!

p.s. If I can find out where the studies are from that they are using, I can also send those to you! My email is mitzi@la.znet.com

Check into Linus Pauing for the Vit C infusions.  I was taking them also, but just couldn't afford them and had to quit. If I could afford them I would have continued.

I also know about Vit C IV's - looked into them when my dad was dying from cancer and having a terribly time on chemo..  He wouldn't even talk to me about this so I had the information for myself when I was dx'ed.. I haven't had to use it because my cancer is/was non invasive.. but I believe I would if I had gone through chemo and wasn't making progress.. I had also done some research on the amino acids that our body seems to be missing when we develope cancer (and other diseases) so the amino also make sense to me..

There is a Complimentary/Alternative Med doc here in town (he use to be an e/r doc in a major medical community) who decided he was tired of seeing people die.. well that's what he said anyway and his wife is a therapist who does a practice along side of him (Transpersonal Therapy)..

Your sister devotes her life to "wellness" and she did try the chemo approach and now she wants to try another route, she hasn't given up, not by a long shot.. so I'd say learn to accept and respect her choice   Even though I'm sure it scares!   Best!

Hi there.  I was wondering if anyone else was doing the iv vitamin C.  I started doing mine a couple weeks before my chemotherapy and continue it weekly as I go through my treatments.  I wanted to skip the chemo myself and just do the natural too, but my cancer is stage III and my tumors very large.  I have a little boy who's turning 2 on Monday so I just couldn't risk trying it alone.  I think they are doing clinical trials on the iv vit c at Mount Sinai in Montreal right now. My naturopath has been very helpful to me.  His theory is that we should attack the cancer in as many ways as possible and build up the body, so I take many supplements, including curcumin, l-carnitine, corriolus, berberis and a bunch more as well as the 65gram vit c treatments weekly.  Although I have just finished 4 ac treatments, I have lots of hair growing, my white cell counts have been awesome, and my tumors are both unpalpable.  I attribute alot of that to the natural therapy and the positive attitude I've had just from being empowered by choosing my own treatments.  Give your sister encouragement and love and help her to stay positive and watch what can happen!

I personally did high dose IV C last year.  I do believe the key to this and any alternative treatment is...you do the research than give yourself a time frame of getting this protocol a chance to work.  Monitor your progress.

For me I had TN with skin mets so I could see very easily if I was having a respond. I did... but not the one you wanted.  It made my skin mets grow very rapidly. As with many treatment it about what kind of cancer you have and how your body responds.  I've heard good things about C but it is not a stand alone treatment.  Please research what treatments the Oasis Hospital in Mexico does. You can find many of these in the US and they do Vit C also. You must fight with multiple protocols. Also alternative is all about slow and gentle. Make sure you have a cancer that grow at this rate....my is not one of them...even on chemo.

Hi, I also own a holistic medical practice and do high dose Vitamin C IV therapy.  It depends on the type of cancer and what stage the cancer is.  Triple negative is a pretty aggressive type of cancer and as a practitioner, I would never suggest my patients doing IV Vitamin C alone with Triple Negative.  I would combine this with traditional therapy as an adjunct.  There is a patient with Triple negative breast cancer on facebook (Christina Newman) and I have been following her journey for a while.  She was diagnosed a few years back and has managed to control it but hasn't gotten rid of it yet.  She started with holistic/integrative treatments and diet however her cancer grew rapidly.  She eventually opted for surgery and chemo.  She is now on a  vaccine protocol but it appears that it is not working for her. (Each patient responds differently to different treatments).  There is sound research behind IV vitamin C.  My cancer patients will take up to 100 grams at a time.  I would encourage anyone with cancer to have the RGCC test done. www.rgccusa.com

Tammy, I am curious, you say that it depends on type and stage. Which kinds/stages of cancers would you treat with IV vit. C without adjunct conventional treatment?

Fulbright- who gives this to you- a conventional Onc or alternative Dr. How often and how much dosage. I am interested. I take Vit c by mouth on my own. No harm but can cause diarrhoea if too much.

Tammy, I"ve been following Christina Newman on YouTube.  Her Vlog #37 sums up her experience with alternative treatments--She was the healthiest she's ever been, but her cancer grew. She remains a fan of alternatives but suggests that in researching new treatment options, you ask for results on 10 patients with your exact cancer and stage.
