Hot Flashes

Has anyone tried accupuncture for hot flashes? I've tried Effexor and Nurontin but have had a lot of problems with constipation since starting treatment.

I haven't tried acupuncture but have heard it can be effective. I also took nuerontin for a short while, but had problems with my balance, on it.

I have just been "living with it" for past few mths, but recently "stumbled upon" something that has reduced my flashes alot, especially at night.- I read an article recently that hot flashes were linked to higher blood pressure. - Ironically, I am a new HBP pt, which I believe is completely from my new "lack of estrogen". Anyway, my PCP recently upped my BP med dose (ace inhibitor-Altace) and immediately hot flashes diminished.

I have read that the Catapress patch can help with hot flashes BP, so makes sense to me that other HBP drugs might help as well. Hopefully someone will come along and tell you thier experience with accupuncture. - For me taking the Altace is like killing 2 birds with one stone.

    Best of luck

I hurt my foot and have been on 800 of ibuprofen 2-3 times a day and my hot flashes have remarkably decreased!! I doubt it'll last and my stomach wouldn't want me to do it forever but it's way nice to sleep through the night!
