I see so many references for camisoles, forms, special bras, etc. One of the Softee(sp?) camisoles is $59 !!!!!
Is any of this covered by insurance?
Probably not, but thought I would ask first.

Thanks in advance (TIA) and I appreciate all of your thoughts and comfort and suggestions.
I'm in the final stages of making my decision and this board/site has been invaluable!!

Actually, yes! Many insurance companies do cover post-surgical camisoles as well as prostheses and bras. My insurance covered two camisoles. Then, when I was ready for fitting, I was covered for three mastectomy bras as well as the two prostheses.

Insurance coverage varies, of course. But it's definitely worth checking. Sometimes the lingerie shops or hospital boutiques that sell the camis will know if your particular insurance covers them.

Yes, call your insurance company. I know coverage varies but when I first was fitted my company covered my prosth, my swim prosth. and 4 bras a year. Of course I have bought more than 4 bras (anyone who had read my posts must know that by now!) but every bit helps. In fact, since it has been almost a year now I can get 4 more bras in July.

Yes we have blue cross and I called them to check first before I bought anything and they told me yes but wouldn't give me a specific number on what they pay for each year which was kind of weird. I have to have a script signed by my doc for each item ordered showing that it is necessary and that's all they would tell me.
So I got two scripts from my surgeon for post mastectomy cami's, went to a fitter, she even filed for me and I've never received a bill. You have to make sure your fitter handles your insurance company too.

If you have a flexible spending account through your work mastectomy things can be reimbursed through that also.

If you live near a Nordstrom's, try there...I just had a great experience...they carry all the forms(paperwork for insurance and "silicone"!) They are a preferred provider for most insurance companies.
