My mother-in-law was diagnosed with BC last week, she had lumpectomy on monday. Doctors told to have Radiation within 3 weeks after surgery, but did not confirm how many days she has to go. She is in India with my F-in-law, we are in US. After Radiation, i want to bring her here. (if psbl, may be in July 2nd week or so)So that, we can take care of her.
I am gathering info. as much as i can on everything that can help her. Can you please help me??
Thank you very much

I don't know what is the norm in India, but here with lumpectomy it would be common to have 35 radiation treatments (one per day, five days a week). Perhaps she could go ahead and come here and do her radiation here? Depends on her medical coverage, I guess.

    Good luck,

    Hope M.

    Thank you Hope.

Right now i cannot bring her here 'coz the stitches will be removed on coming Wednesday and the doctor said she had to go to Radiation treatment within 3 weeks of surgery. That's why i want to bring her after the Radiation treatment. I dont know about the coverage/expenses of Radiation in US. Can you please tell me where can i find that info?

In India there is no issue of Insurance. So, everything can be managed but little expensive... but i think not much pricy than here.

I Think this might work. Go to hospital tell them what you want to do and information on cost. If you can pay the cost or insured ask for onc. radiation doctor that would
be willing to take her as a patient. Also remember they may not have an opening during the time frame that is needed. I had 7 wks of rads. 10 days were boost, just to area of cancer site. I am light skined black hair. I did very good. Near end of treatment started to get tired middle of day for about 4 to 6 wks. Also age 60, breast sm. and dense. Wishing your family the best. Also I drank a lot of juice during treatment time, craveing I think for vit.C Think this helped my healing.

    Thank you abbie!
My mother-in-law is 59, and also light skinned black hair. Yesterday, she went for the removal of the stitches. Right now, we did not get info about how much sittings and all except she had to go for a radiation within 3 weeks from the surgery. (can you please tell me: we get this info from the surgeon or the oncologist!!) I only know that her 2 lumps are 8 x something and 6 x something. She had surgery on left side.

You told me to go to a hospital and find out. You meant an Oncologist.. isn't it? I am sorry, i really do not know much of this stuff. The little things i know are only from these web-sites.
    Thank you for your patience.
