My mom started treatment today

My mom had her first radiation treatment today and will be starting her other medication hopefully by tomorrow. The oncologist has enrolled her in a clinical trial. She will be taking Arimedex daily and Faslodex injections. I am of course concerned about the side affects, but I guess they could be worse. Her spirits seem good right now. She does not want anyone around that is not positive and upbeat. I cannot say as I blame her for that. It is my understanding that they will repeat her PET scan in 2 months to see if it is working. I just hope that it buys us some more time to spend together. I need a little more of that to adjust. I just want to thank you all for you prayers and thoughts. It really means so much.

Dawn, I just read your other posts and wanted to say how lucky your mom is to have a daughter like you. Like so many others have said, she's moving forward now and there's really no need to look back. Just continue to support her, that's what she needs to most now.
I hope her treatments go well. Keep us posted.

my mom was diagnosed stage 2 three yrs ago. you seem to be supporting your mom well. i hope her treatments are doing well. god bless you

We have had a scary week. Not only am I concerned about my mom, but I went for my first mammo last week at 37 years old. On mammo and ultrasound, they found 4 places that were not good. I went today for biopsies on them. I told my mom that now we can just go through all of this together. It is sort of nice to know that she knows how I am feeling. It is quite scary when I told her where my biopsies were done, to find out that she had the same thing and in the same places.
As far as her treatments are going. Her radiation is for 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for who knows how long. She is also taking Arimedex daily. She is tired, but otherwise not feeling too bad. She actually made the trip to be with me today.
