Hi Just checking in Bump for newbies.
-
hello all. Love this thread. It is interesting to hear of so many women dx many years ago that didn't get chemo and are still with us that being said I would love to see stage 4 survivor stories.
-
Bumping because it's so important . . .

My aunt had breast cancer around 1982. She had a mastectomy, followed by chemo (never lost her hair, it just got thin) She was told she had at the most 2 years to live. She was node positive, and I remember them saying the tumor was very large, and she had a few positive nodes. When the doctors told her she had 2 years left she promptly said "You are not God, and you don't get to decide that!". She defied all odds, and year after year she amazed the doctors. She drank beer every day, ate 2 fried eggs with bacon every morning, and loved steak and seafood! She is now 90 with senile dementia. She started showing a few signs of dementia 15 years ago. She was on Tamoxifen for 13 years, a protocol not followed now in 2016. Her geriatric doc thinks possibly the 13 years of tamoxifen may have led to the dementia, and truth be told she loved her beer! lol She has 8 siblings, and none of them had breast cancer or dementia. There is a lot of longevity in her family too I must say! She does have 2 nieces who survived breast cancer, which I am one.I am a 15 year survivor. My prayer is I reach a ripe old age without the dementia!

My mom was diagnosed 20+ years ago with stage2 IDC. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and rads and Tamoxifen. She never looked back. Now, at 75, proud Grandma of 6, she inspires me to become a cranky old lady someday! She is learning how to get around online and I keep thinking I should tell her about BCO so she can share her words of wisdom. However, she put it all behind her. I think that's the way
-
