Need supporting prayer...

to keep me lifted up. I started a new drug regimen on Friday and have been sick all weekend. They started me on Zometa monthly again; Procrit weekly; Fentanyl patches for pain, all of these on Friday...and Xeloda and Compazine Monday. My tumor markers went up when I stopped the Taxol; white blood count and platelets are good; red is not. Pain is 24/7 now. I need you to support me in prayer and ask God to teach me to live the Serenity Prayer...big time....now more than ever. There's a new wheelchair in the den and a cane in the kitchen...and a commode on the way....trappings of ill health...if that is His will I accept...but if not...then show me the way to overcome this disease and what it is doing to me and my loved ones. We need that Courage, Strength and Wisdom. Thank you for your voices added to ours in prayerful support of each other.

    Jan,
I am so sorry. Please know that I am adding you to my daily prayers. Praying that God lifts you and your family up and wraps you all completely in His comfort and peace. And, I'm praying that God shines His healing light upon you.

Praying that God sends you the strength, courage and wisdom that you seek and need.

The Serenity Prayer is one of my favorites, but, I also find these passages comforting in times of distress:

"Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows, but cheer up for I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27

Sending gentle hugs to you, Jan.

know that you are in my prayers daily. the power of prayer is a wonderful and powerful thing - one which I firmly believe in. Remember that God will always see you through - don't lose the faith.

I find comfort in the words
    of James Dillet Freeman

The Light of God surrounds Us
The Love of God enfolds Us
The Power of God protects Us
and the Presence of God watches over Us
Where ever we are God is
    Amen

Well, I'm checking in again...just got discharged after another 5 days in hospital...partial paralysis of leg and pain management and also a V.A.D. inserted to make blood draws, etc, easier. End result from new lumbar MRI and bone scan...it's spread to thoractic region and skull; plus extensive in pelvis and hips and femurs and lumbar region. Presently on a week break from Xeloda (hand are already cracking); on Ativan and Decadron and Motrin and Compazine....having Procrit weekly and Zometa monthly. Guess that's it for now. Pretty weary right about now...Would appreciate continued prayers...met a really nice chaplain in hospital and would like to extend myself into some type of ministry but need God's direction. Presently make hats and slippers for homeless while here at home and might add prayer shawls...do lots of writing...something will come up...thanks.
