Congrats Terri - such great news. I've been spending my time on the rads group...all is well after a brief setback because of 2nd degree burns under the breast. Only 5 more rads to go. Already completed the 6 boosts. Looking forward to a reduction and bilateral lift in about 6 months. Love to you all...
-
wow -- good 4 u, holly. just don't forget us entirely!
-
Ouch, Holly! Glad that all is under control and you are just about done with rads. Thanks for checking in!
-
I wanted to share with everyone the verse that was printed on our church bullentin this morning. It spoke to me and I hope it will give comfort to each of you.
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8, NIV
Sholom my sisters,
Nancy -

Very sad news to share today....one of the members of my Women's Cancer Support Group (which I've been attending since I was diagnosed in Feb) died this weekend. It was quite a shock and has left me feeling pretty empty...
Every day is a gift. -
Great news on the Pet scan Terri. I'll be back in Houston on Wed. and will start rads then. I will talk to you after I arrive in Houston.
Bettye -
Holly...so sorry to hear of your friends death. Prayers and hugs being sent your way.
Nancy -
Nancy, thanks so much for the verse. It says so much.
terri... congrats on the good test results. See what happens when you study?
Holly, I am so sorry about your friend. That is sad and stunning news to be sure. Big hugs from me...
Miss S -
Holly, the death of a friend is never easy. Prayers for comfort are being sent your way. Hugs, Jacque

Thank you all for the support. It's so scary to know someone who has died from this disease. We all know the possibility is there, but I've been able to keep that worry at bay by focusing on the healing process. Bonnie's death makes it all too real....she was a courageous and beautiful woman.
-
Holly, so sorry to hear about yr friend. that can be so devastating...

here's something to make you smile. there's a web site for moms of young children called mommasaid.net. the founder has been dx'd with non-hodgkins lymphoma. she finishes chemo soon, and had her family send her the worst lookiing wigs they could find, and there's a place on the web site where you can vote for the worst wig: there's a mullet, a Las vegas hooker one, a Cruella Deville one...

That girl has got a great attitude!
I started back to school on Monday and the kids come tomorrow. I'm kinda tired, so I'd appreciate prayers for a strong and healthy school year. So many little germs attached to so many little people!
Hope everyone is keeping well.
Christine -
keenie, have you tried taking that Airborne stuff? supposed to help guard against airborne infection. i'm sure u have lots of hand sanitizer.
here's to a great year for u and yr students! -
Here in Canada we have something similar called Cold F-X and I'll speak to the onc about it when I see her in mid September. And yes, I've got lots of hand sanitizer! I guess it kills about 90% of all the bad guys!
I've got 2 classes of Kindergarteners this year and I'm looking forward to seeing their little faces tomorrow. My school was so wonderful to me when I was off last spring - each class sent me a special gift each week and I was so touched by their kindness. Now I'm going to show them my funky new hair and hand out some hugs!
Christine -
Hi Keenie,
I am praying for energy for you and me, too! I start back to work on Monday.
I think you're probably the best teacher ever and I wish I was in your class!!
Hugs,
Miss S -
props to all of you who are back at work!

Hi Sisters,
I have terrible news. My ejection fraction has dropped from 67% to 36% and I have been taken off Herceptin. I got the echocardiagram last week, but just found this out this morning when I went to get my Herceptin.
I probably should not have had the last two doses of Herceptin, but we didn't know. The onc doesn't know if this was caused by the Adriamycin, the Herceptin, or the radiation. My only other heart test was done before chemo started.
I do have shortness of breath with exertion and fatigue, which I guess are signs of congestive heart failure.
With a drop this big, I doubt if I will be able to resume Herceptin. I was not expecting this at all and I am still quite stunned.
I have an appointment with the cardiologist in an hour.
Miss S -
Miss S....my prayers are being sent your way. Let us know what the cardiologist says.
{{{{Hugs}}}}}
Nancy -
Miss S - my prayers are with you. The body is an incredibly resilient creation. I hope the cardiologist can give you good advice and direction.
I'll just bet you've been stoically enduring this fatigue and shortness of breath without complaining to your doctor, haven't you? Who would have ever thought we ought to bitch and moan?!?
All good thoughts your way,
Lisa -
Miss S - I am so sorry to hear of this complication. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that this is only a minor and temporary setback and you will soon be back on the path toward healing and wholeness....
Hugs from Holly -
Ah Miss S - rats! It is scary having heart issues - been there done (doing) that. The good news is, it can turn around. Earlier this year my cardiologist thought I had had had a heart attack because of my ejection rate, etc.- but it has since returned to normal. I realize the causes are different, but there is hope! Please let us know what you find out.
I have said a prayer for healing and comfort. Hugs, Jacque -
Thank you all for your quick responses and prayers. I appreciate them so much.
The cardiologist said I won't be able to resume Herceptin. I had also seen online that Herceptin was normally permanantly discontinued if your ejection fraction dropped more than 15% and mine was double that. He was also concerned about the horrible mass of raw meat known as my chest. He said rads had to stop (I told him the rad onc had stopped them yesterday!). He is worried about the area becoming infected.
I have to go for some blood tests in the morning and he has a Cardiolite Stress test scheduled for two afternoons next week. Apparently it's a two part test. This is just so wonderful. My first week back at work and I have to take two afternoons off.
Then I have to go see him two weeks after that. Then I have to get another Echo. My company is not going to be amused. I know I'm not, either. LOL
Lisa, I have always mentioned fatigue to the doctors, but I just figured I was short of breath from being fat and laying around doing nothing all year.
I was freaking out at first, but I am okay now. This is really just like all the other stuff that's been happening to me. God is still on the throne and He still loves me just as much as ever.
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:7-9 -
Dear Miss S,
I'm so sorry to hear of all your troubles. But, you are an inspiration to us by your faith! I thought of a verse for you - hope you are encouraged by it.
Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
Christine
