For years we have been reading benefits of green tea in Prevention,Good Housekeeping, etc. Since my surgery & radiation for DCIS, I drink 1 or 2 cups,(small) a day. I mix it half w/black tea (why not?) & sweeten w/honey or stevia from a health food place. It's become a relaxing ritual, as do the wise orientals. A from NC

I LOVE green tea! I drink green tea and take the caps. One thing to remember about chemo is that you should not take any vitamins or herbs during that time, with the exception of B6, B12 and glutamine, to help keep neuropathy at bay. Antioxidants will protect the cancer cell just as it protects the normal cell. My onc told me no supplements or herbs during chemo. After chemo, they are a godsend.

Cin54....yes, that is what my onc nurse told me but is very encouraging after the chemo (May 23!! YIPEE)is done to make a habit of drinking it daily or take a supplement. Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions on flavors/types. I didn't really like the taste and just drank it because I thought I should but the raspberry sounds good. Marsha

I've had trouble finding the rasberry green tea and suspect that y'all on this board have come to Raleigh, NC and bought it all up in our Whole Foods stores ! Just kidding, of course, but I suspect that it has to be good if that's the one type that's always sold out when I look for it. In the meantime, I've been drinking the Bigelow's Mint Green Tea and it's pretty good. Does anyone know if Bigelow's teas have fewer of the benefits attributed to other brands? It just seems that the more popular manufacturers might have just climbed on the bandwagon and may not be as 'pure'...or it's just my crazy paranoia again?!

Sometimes, you can find it at Costco. I've even found it at the "99 cent" store. I always look for the tea that says "100%" green tea. Even better if it has those Chinese symbols on it, which tells me it was imported from China. I have tasted some that was really nasty. A lady I work with is Chinese and when she was in Chinatown, she picked some up for me, but I really didn't like the taste of it, though I was grateful for the thought and drank it anyway. Other than that, I have loved the taste of the others. It's like a habit when I get to work. First thing I do is open my overhead, pull out my big mug and make a cup of green tea. I add to it 1/2 heaping teaspoon of stevia.

My oncologist also said No to Green Tea during chemo....it was in my multivitamin so I changed....Check all your tea labels because a lot of the tea is actually green (ex. jasmine tea is sometimes green)
