I finally watched it, its available for purchase on I Tunes. I don't have cabel so I came across it on I tunes the other day and finally got a chance to see it. I have read the book. I did not think I would cry. I hung in there until the scene where they are getting her ready for her mast. I just started bawling. My BF said " I don't know why you do this to yourself " I don't know what to say. To me Geralyn was an inspiration. However I think maybe Im silly for not being able to let go of bad memories. Anyhow I loved the movie. My only comment would be on the music. It was a little to jazzy and happy for me.

I was watching the movie "Nine Lives" this weekend. I knew it was a series of vineittes (sp?) about women's lives. The eigth story was with Kathy Bates and Joe Montangna; she has just been admitted to the hospital for a mastectomy. I found myself bawling. The conversation between the two seemed so real. My husband left the room during this scene; didn't feel like revisiting that day in our lives.

I think it is okay to be reminded of those dark days because we, like Geralyn, went down the rabbit hole and ended up okay. I think that sometimes, as time goes on, we can minimize what has happened to us and our loved ones. By watching films and reading books and talking to our sisters we can honor ourselves and the memory of who we were.

I want to keep my memories of that day. I want to keep present the emotions of that day. I was brave that day.

acgw ... you are brave everyday, you just have a different gauge for braveness now then you ever did before.

I think our memories serve a special purpose: to remind us that we did something extremely frightening and life changing and life saving. What amazing women we are.

    Best,
