Hi Candi!
Thanks for letting us know! We still have lots of time.
All I can come up with is the restaurant my friend works at (asst. manager). It is on Haggerty Rd at 7 Mile in Livonia. It's called Champps. Nice place, very popular. Could do a lunch there, would be less busy than at night.
Any other ideas out there?
Judy -
Judy:
Just noticed your post. It is my understanding that all of the Chammp's restaurants closed about two months ago. I know the one you're speaking about and it was a nice one (as all of them were) but I believe the whole chain went bankrupt and the employees had no warning etc. I used to go to the one in Troy off of Coolidge and Square Lake sometimes - I was very sorry to see them close. I'm sure if we brainstorm we can come up with something.
And Candi - thanks for the effort, I know we all appreciate it, sometimes those things just happen, right? Please don't feel bad!!! We don't!! -
Hey guys....
Again, I'm sorry....My step-mother is very odd and I just don't want to go there....She can be one of those 'toxic' people we don't need in our life....It's a long story about her and she really hurt me when I was diagnosed but we won't go there now....
I had my fourth treatment today of taxol and while at Karmanos I picked up a paper on a walk they are having at the detroit zoo...It is August 29th....It is 10.00 for adults and 12 and up is 5.00.....It is being held by NAAMA and is for all womens cancers and all proceeds go to womens health education and awareness programs at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Center Institute....
You can go to www.naama.com or www.karmanos.org to get more info.....
Just letting you know....I think it might be cool if some of went.....
Hugs to you all........

Pat:
I spoke with my friend today, and Champps in Livonia is still there! However, she is now general manager at the Bloomfield Hills Champps (Orchard Lake & 14 Mile).
Of course, other suggestions are still welcome.
Candi: don't worry 'bout itFrom the sounds of things, you may have a more relaxing, enjoyable time if we go elsewhere. I can let you know about the walk at the zoo.
Hugs to all

I live in Woodhaven and if you live Downriver, we both could drive together to where ever we are to meet with the rest of the group.

Hi Ladies,
There is a really nice resturant in Plymouth called Compari's; (good food & atmosphere) if we are looking for different places. I have been there several times and have never been dissapointed.
Candi, not to worry....family, friends seems as though you can never figure them out!
If we are all still on for the 25th (?) I will need to know as my work schedule for September is gearing up.
Peace! Lorie -
Hey Judy:
I haven't been on my computer for a few days and just now saw your post. That's great news about Champs!! I thought they all had closed - shows you what I know!!The one on Orchard Lake sounds fine too - or the place that Lorie is suggesting . . . I'm flexible.
Blessings to all,
Pat -
When I saw this post - I thought I missed it - but I did not. What a great idea. Is Champs on Orchard lake still ON? I am putting it in my callendar.
Hope to see everyone there... -
LoriAnne: Where is that at in Plymouth? My hubby's band sometimes plays at the Coffee Bean. I grew up around there, but can't picture the restaurant (probably had a different name then).
Sanam: hello and welcome! Where in Michigan are you located?
Pat: don't worry 'bout it!!Doesn't matter to me where we meet either, but we should pick something soon. With the way these weeks are flying by, Sept. 25th will be here before we know it!
What do you say, ladies? Plymouth sounds fine to me! Should we meet for lunch or dinner? Maybe we should take a count of how many of us are going, for reservations...I'll start.
One.
Judy B. -
Hi All,
Judy: The Coffee Bean is on Penniman; I love music does your husband play there often??
I'm game for dinner and/or lunch on the 25th. Here is the link for Compari's; see if you all like this idea.
http://www.comparisdining.com/
I cannot believe summer is almost over; where did summer begin???!!
I am so looking forward to meeting you all!
Lorie -
Lorie...I know where the Bean is, I go whenever DH plays...but I don't know where Compari's is!!! I will check out the link...O.k. so it is right across from Kelloggs Park. Got it. Love Italian food, my favorite!
Oh, and we definitely got ripped off this summer, weather-wise. We only used our pool a couple of times, and I'm ready to close it already! The water temp. has dropped to 68 degrees!!! Brrrr.
Thanks!
Judy -
Thanks Judy for the post....but, what kind of music does DH play?? I may just have to check out the Coffee Bean!
Okay...Compari's it is...let's hope that the weather is nice so we can lounge outside!!
I'm in on the 25th; Number 2. But, dinner or lunch?
Peace, Lorie -
Hi Ladies:
I vote for lunch on the 25th!! And I guess I'm #3 to give my reservation. So just to confirm . . . we are going to meet (for either lunch or dinner) on Sept. 25th at Compari's in Plymouth, right?? It will be so much fun to meet everyone!
Blessings,
Pat -
Count me in! Looking forward to meeting all of you. Plymouth is close to me. Are we doing the banner and are you getting your t-shirts? I got one from the Chicago gathering.
Nancy -
Hi all,
I'm n wherever and whenever it is. I live in Troy so can meet someone close by to carpool or pick someone up on the way.
I am so looking forward to this.
Debra -
Hi Ladies:-)
Glad we are in agreement where to meet. Okay lunch at Compari's in Plymouth on 9/25/04 at 12:30? I would like to get a "head" count so perhaps I could let them know the total number who will be attending.
Sphynx: I do not have a shirt; and I have no clue about a banner? Maybe someone else may know.
Thought you may want to put a face behind the voice ( and it would be nice to know who we are "meeting")..so check out our website and lv a msg if you like. And..ahem...please do not "gag" at the picture (my hair has a life of it's own)!

hi everyone,
what a great website !!! my story- I am 38, 2 kids, Claire- 3, John 11m, i was dx may 27th, invasive ductal. left breast one node pos out of 19.i took both breasts, with reconstruction, these tissue expanders are awful! Tomarrow is my last A/C treatment. I am 1/2 way there !! Then onto taxol and herceptin. Lucky me, HER2 +. No big deal- thank god for the herceptin. I am an RN and work every other weekend for visiting nurses, infact i am a home infusion nurse, home chemo. So now i really have something in common with my patients....We just moved to Plymouth, 2 weeks post op, and three days before my chemo started...what was i thinking!! I do everything at Beaumont Royal Oak, and so far i have been very pleased. I think i am off the weekend that you are planning to meet, would love to join in, i LOVE compari's!!! -
Welcome KJD. Sorry you have to join us but this is the best place to be.
Everyone should send Melissa, our moderator, a private message and request your bc.org t-shirt. She will also send us a huge banner to sign. I hope there is still room on it!
We probably should post in the other topics to catch some of the women who do not read the get-together topic.
Beautiful picture Lori.
This should be fun, I'm looking forward to it. -
I am from West Bloomfield, not realy familiar with Plymuth. Can you please post the address of the Restaurant (Meeting place) so I can look it up on the map - I must have missied it in the notes here.
-
Never mind I found it - here is the address
Compari's
350 S Main St Plymouth, MI 48170-1604 -
Hi all!
I can't wait, this sounds like it will be really nice, and lots of fun!
Am I terrible--I don't wear t-shirts...is it ok if I pass on that? Have had asthma my whole life, hate shirts around my neck, probably psychologicalDon't do turtlenecks, either.
Lori, what a lovely picture! About dh's band, he has been in a few bands, at the Bean they play reggae/grateful dead kind of stuff (not really into that too much). His other band does more blues/rock type music. We don't let him sing! He plays bass. I've been helping him lug his 2 HUGE speakers for 21 years now, they seem heavier to me each year!
Hugs to all!
Judy -
OMG it is FINALLY summer in MI....amazing
Hey Judy...thanks for the info on DH..I just may have to keep updates from you about his gigs!
Okay everyone, I will SEE you at Compari's on the 25th at 12:30 ( I will get there early, my buddy might be joining us as well)...I do not do t-shirts well either Judy..sorry all.
I'm counting on 12....anyone else let me know!
Cheers!

Hi lorie-
I am planning on attending
kerry -
Hi all- I'm new to this board, but not to BC. I have been lurking for a bit & just stumbled across this thread in the Get-Togethers section. This sounds like a very caring group. I would love to meet you in Plymouth on 9/25!
I am 7 yrs out now & so far, so good. You can read a bit about me at my website (there are also pics there, too). I look forward to getting to know everyone better. I also participate in some other online groups and have had a blast meeting ladies from all over the country.
Lorie, I also see Dr. Chottiner now. I had my surgeries at Providence (LOVED my surgeon, who moved to PA), chemo at U of M (ehhh), rads at Providence. Dumped my onc there when my surgeon left & decided on Dr. Chottiner (since I work at St. Joe's now). I really like her so far.
A couple of years after my diagnosis, I went to work for my surgeon. We were a great team, and she trained me like one of her residents. I then did breast exams & taught pt's how to do them the RIGHT way. I also gained great experience in reading mamms & ultrasounds, and in numerous breast conditions. I was very sad to see her move on.
Hope I can be of help to some here!
Hugs, Michele
