We have Netflix at our house. Somehow my 13 year old figured out my password (ok, so it wasn't hard an dhe knows me very well) and ordered "Waiting..". Was I glad I had the day off today. I thought I would sit down and watch it and he can take it to his dad's house for the weekend.

I am so glad I watched it. It is now back in its sleeve waiting for the mailman to take it back. What were they thinking? I may never eat a Bennigan's type restaurant again. I will never ever complain about my food either.

Postscript to whole thing is that I changed my password so he can't order anything except PG. He has to get my permission to get anything above that. And he will never figure out the password this time. It is the first time his stepfather and I ...well... you know. Guess what? His stepfatehr won't figure it out either!

Now I am checking out "Into the Blue" before he watches it too.

Do you love Netflix? I was thinking of joining but wanted to hear from someone who uses it. We just go to the video store and that works too!

I've thought about Netflix but not sure I would have time to watch the movies on a regular basis.

Arlee, I have 2 older stepsons, 33 and 29, and dh ahs a third from his 2nd wife who is 11. Eric is my ds from my ex and he's the 13 y.o. I know we will have another go 'round with the youngest. Indeed it always comes down to learning and giving respect. Thanks for your insight.

As far as Netflix, I love it. They have made a lot of changes over the past 2 years. We originally got it for my mom because she is disabled and can't get out. I don't mind the turn-around time because it is usually only 2 days, on eday to get back to them and one day to get a new one to us. I have had all different plans and have bounced back and forth. Try it for the free time, that is what we did. They have lots of old movies and seeing as how TCM is our favorite movie channel, it works out great.

I have no control over what ds watches at his father's house but I try to exercise some better judgement here. Just thought I would throw it out for a little discussion to see how others have dealt with their teens.

Another Netflix lover here. We have the 3-movies-at-home-at-a-time deal. It's so easy. You set up your movie list on-line, and then when you return a movie, they send you the next one on your queue. And you can move the movies in the queue. My daughter wanted to watch "Spaceballs" for her birthday, so we just moved that up the list to have it arrive the same day as her birthday party. It's a great deal and pretty cheap too.

I have had Netflix for about 3 years and LOVE it. I always hated going to the video store because no one could agree and then we'd have to take it back. I watch tv series, but throw in a movie now and then. I get 6 at a time, but sometimes wish it was more. Blockbuster has a good deal if you like going to the store, too. You can return the mailed movie and pick up one right away. That seems like a good compromise. I just don't like going to the store!

I love Netflix. It rocks. We just ordered Son of Godzilla for my twins. They love godzilla, well he got hurt and was bleeding, my boys cried. So sweet!

Well, the commercials are true about Netflix. I was not feeling well and did not want to go to the post office. So I left both movies in the mailbox on Thursday and the new movies arrived today. We are going to watch the new "Yours Mine and Ours" and then "Derailed". Maybe we should start a thread about movie reviews? It sure gets your mind off of what you may be dealing with.

I would love a thread about movie reviews. I wish the would move the 'what are you reading' thread to this forum. It tends to get buried in the Help Me Through Treatment forum.

I am in the middle of season 2 of 24. It's pretty good. I get so hooked that I just want to watch the whole thing at once. I am also watching season 5 of Quantum Leap. I used to love that show.

I have yet to watch an episode of 24. I've heard it is really good though.

You kind of have to watch a whole season in a row, I think. It all connects.

Yep, I watch movies and knit. That's my way of relaxing, actually, my son says it's my way of life.

I will keep my eyes peeled for you two!

Another topic as long as we are on kids and movies...
I am a divorced mom, remarried 2 years ago on Thursday (yay) and my son regularly visits his dad. How do you make the ex understand about inappropriate movies to take the kid to? It is very frustrating.

How about an Entertainment thread? We could talk about
    movies, books, tv, etc.

Is that on cable yet? I'll look for it if it is. I just watched a lovely movie called "Ladies in Lavender" with Maggie Smith. She's one of my favorite actors. It was a little sad. Two elderly sisters in Cornwall find a Polish shipwreck survivor and nurse him back to health. The young man turns out to be a violin virtuoso and eventually leaves. It was very touching.
