Ive had both lumpectomy and then bmx, lumpectomy extremely easy recovery compared to bmx. Slept fine in bed, wore regular bra immediately afterwards

I had a lumpectomy and only had pain from the SLN. Not the incision but the muscles that were stretched out through the axilla an under arm area. Still nothing at all like a c-section.

I had two lumpectomies and slept in the recliner for a few nights each time. It probably wasn't necessary but I was alone and thought it the safest and easiest place to get up from. Recovery time was relatively fast and nothing like I had imagined. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting up!

I had a bilateral Mastectomy with nodes removed on both sides. I also had expanders put in (under the chest muscle). Getting up was challenging because of the node surgery on both sides. I couldn't use my arms to help me get up. Thank goodness for strong abs (at the time). What I did was bought a bunch of pillows to make a wedge in my bed. As I felt better I would removed pillows so I was eventually sleeping flat. I would roll on my side to get out of bed… but a lumpectomy isn't quite as invasive. I'm betting you'll have a much easier time than I did and I didn't do so badly.

Hi Girls, I want to say thank you again for always, always, always being here for me. You really are my Breast sisters, even if your gone for a while. Its like coming home. Thank you for being here for me. I have the MRI scheduled for Wednesday, Wouldn't you know it, I am feeling so much better. Not sure if I should have it done just incase? I keep wondering if I over did something, Do you think fluid shows on the MRI? If it were LE?

Mapgirl....I had lumpectomy and was told to bring my tightest bra with me.  I wore it over the top of my bandages.  I also was told not to take it off for a couple of days.....in fact, I had to leave it on until my first shower ( so long ago now that I don't remember how long that was ) but I was taking spit baths ( blech ) the  whole time.  I never took a pain pill and I did sleep in bed.......it was not hard to get up, but I did keep a pillow by my side in case I turned to the left.  I didn't find it hard to get up but then I could use my hands and elbows etc. 

It is not too bad really......the biggest pain for me was the spit baths. 

Buddy, if you think you'll have questions or even this issue again I'd go have the MRI......wonderful that we were so soothing here that your problem just cleared up.  What power, huh !!!!  Not making light of anything and I don't know about the fluid question.

I went today to Carbondale and had my yearly mammogram.  They were doing digital mammograms but have added 3-D to it.  The technician said nothing would be missed.  I have to wait for a letter, but as they didn't do extra views ( and we were in the room long enough to find that out )  I'm just feeling that all will be well.  Still, I'll be glad to get the confirmation notice.

Turned into another really long, long day for us.  Going up that way always does.  It is 150 mile round trip so we eat while there and had to stop at Sam's Club and pick up a couple of things.

I am so sorry if I misled any of you. I didn't mean that because of the compassion toward each other my problem went away. I just meant that I do appreciate the kindness you all offer when someone needs it. I guess it dosent really cost anything to be kind to others and you girls sure prove it. As to why I am feeling better ? Maybe I overdid it somehow shifting my implant. Not sure? I probably should have it checked, I just hate going to the Hospitol again. Thanks again

Buddy Jackie is funny and she doesn't know that's what makes her so precious. Now as long as it's scheduled u might as well do it and get it over with and I honestly never heard of anyone getting diagnosed with Le from an MRI---but I don't have the knowledge others have.

Seriously so glad you feel better. Like I said. Don't worry till they tell you there is actually something to worry about. MRI's are pretty detailed. At least it will show if they need to do something more detailed.

Thanks Jackie and Camilegal, I need to lighten up and relax. And your so right about the LE . Now that I think about it. Probably good just incase there is anything lurking. Since I don't get Mamograms anymore. It still hurts to take deep breaths, so I guess that is something.

There is so much going on here, I am sorry to say there are way too many new people. I am glad to make new friends but sad to make them this way. I remember sitting at this computer after my first chemo, scared, crying I had so many questions. Hang in there new people. Has anyone heard from the gal that moved to AZ a few years back. Her husband was a firefighter.?

Thank you so much for the guidance! I did go out and buy 2 wireless bras today. Since my left breast is larger than my right and the lump is in my right breast…lol! Have all the appointments scheduled now there are just 10 days until surgery!

Hi Kater! So good to hear from you, but so sorry for the reason.  Hoping for the best outcome, and will be thinking of you. It's been too long since we've had lunch.

Buddy, so glad to hear that you feel better. Just scheduling the MRI did it! Hope you do go for it, because it could give you answers. Truncal LE is not always so easy to diagnose, but an exam from therapist or onc should do it. www.stepup-speakout.org/breast is one good resource. I don't have it, but know some who do. Massage and wrapping seem to be the treatment.  Costochondritis can also be dx on exam by onc, and either can cause some pain on breathing as you describe. NSAIDS or other pain/anti-inflammatories can help. hope you feel  better soon!

Hi mapgirl! Wow, there are so many of us now, I can't keep up. One thing I would add is that front closing bras were easier to wear than the back fasteners. The worst part of the surgery for me was having to wear a bra 24/7. I just hated it, but doctor ordered it, and the support was best for the incision. Couldn't wait to sleep without it, though. I used the rolling to the unoperated side technique for getting up the first day, but really it was not a problem. Abdominal surgery is a whole different ballgame. We'll all be thinking of you!

Oh Karen....so good to see you back.  I'm glad we were missed.  Hope you are doing fine and that the latest round of storms ( cold and snow mainly ) has left you alone.  Rita didn't seem to get much so maybe you made it through.  The cold is not fun....though not so bad when the wind is not high and the sun is out.  I did spend a good deal of time outside today without my coat buttoned.  Was pushing some snow around and didn't want to be overheated.

Stay well and see you all in the morning sun.   Hope the weather-man was right about that.
