Honor your being,
Release each and every struggle,
Gather strength from life's storms,
Relax into the arms of spirit.

Hi all,
Just checking to express my shock and sadness for Carolyn and her family. I am somewhat familiar with the area that Carolyn's sister lives, and it is relatively close to me (abt 20 minutes). I know there are restaurants there that have a private room that maybe we can have access to. If Carolyn is up for that, I would be happy to make some calls and find us a good place for us to get together. A weekend or dinner is better for me, but I can take a half day or even a whole day off if lunch is better for everyone.
Have a good sunday everyone.

Morning Girls...Just got an email from Carolyn's sister and she told me that she is up for a visit with us. Looking at a Sunday afternoon get together. She will let me know the date. Carolyn has three wishes and she is trying to get them for her. To see her cousin, which she is coming in next week, to go the her parents 50th anniversary party and to see the ocean/beach.
So here is the current update for you. I will keep you all posted as we try to put this together for her.
Hugs to all of you. Have a wonderful Sunday. Now off to the paint store, still picking out colors. arrrggg. Just to many decisions...

Morning my pets.....Special Wave at you, Carolyn!!!!
OK....I wake up to hearing....brutal storm coming, winds 60mph, blizzard conditions, up to a foot of snow, storm of the century???? I shoulda gone back to bed and stayed there! Yikes! Will make sure the car had gas as well as the snowblower...and our frig is stocked. Guess this one is not gonna miss us!
I too am up for anything, anywhere....me and my trust GPS! Just let me know what would work for you, Carolyn....but I am thinking Tuesday thru Friday will not work this week...unless of course Laura uses her crosscountry skis to get to you! LOL
Off to Lowe's....want to get a tropical plant so I can stare at it and dream.....
Rita.....why oh why didn't you shove me in your suitcase?????
-
Just checking in with more hugs and prayers for Carolyn. You have been at the forefront of my mind all weekend. JanClare is right - there is always hope and one should never give up on that. Wendy - I know it's cold, but you better get that convertible out. Tops down, fists up!
-
Totally into the lets hug Carolyn party. I can't wait to see her again. Let me know if there is anything I can do. Sundays work for me. Snow didn't keep me away last time so if you gals are there I will be too.
(((waves))) to Carolyn.
----------------------------
Wendy thanks about the nails. They haven't calmed down yet. I need to get through the cycle. I expect that in another week they will start to improve, at least not get worse or fall off. I've really had it with the right toe. I'm down to 2 pairs of boots that I can walk in. Good think one of them is a pair of snow boots!
-
Hugs Carolyn. I'm with everyone on the winter. We are going to have to look for the winter-b-gone fairy for sure. Our weather says at least a half inch of ice and then a foot of snow on top of that. I'd like to hope they will be wrong ( even a little bit wrong would help ) about that.
Did not mention I think that I went to my cousin's Memorial yesterday. It has been hard for me to confront.
Tropical plants....never thought of that, but though I'd love it --- I even have trouble with my cats wanting to chew on artificial --- let alone real stuff. I tried the indoor live catnip and other things but what you get most of is constant mess....Sigh !!!! Time for my imagination to get on the ball.
I think we are collecttively going to have to Think Spring and Beach. I'm going to start working on that now.
See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie

Oh it sounds like we are all on board! I am easier with Sundays too. My home is fine too but I may be too far away for Carolyn. Where does her sister live? Lisa's idea of a room in a destination nearer to where Carolyn is living. sounds good but absolutely my home or Jan Clare's would be available. Blackjack, thank you for all that you are doing. I just do not wish to overwhelm, Carolyn. Her sister can communicate for her sister on what would work best for her.
The tropical plants, Wendy, from Lowes. Sometimes I think you are my kindred spirit. I am not sure if you read my post on my rereading of the Secret Garden and recreating it in a spare room upstairs for the grand girls. It is a process at this time, but I did get these tropical plants from Lowes to add to the garden. They have the most to choose from and the cheapest. Orchids are very expensive, and Jackie, I have to keep my cat out as she loves nibbling on the plants and I am not sure what is okay for her.
Have peace in your Sunday today!

Hugs and healing vibes to Carolyn.
Lago, I'll let you know about next week. It will be Thursday or Friday.
Happy Sunday all.
-
Adey I don't think anyone is coming to Chicago on Tuesday/Wednesday if they don't have to. Let's see if we really do get 12". At least my snow boots are the ones I can walk in the best!
-
My Rush visit will most likely be on Friday /04. If worse comes to worse we could do Au Bon Pain! I'll let you know for sure on Monday and we'll see how the weather chips fall. (c:

Carolyn's sister lives in Darien. I looked it up, because I was going to stop one day when I was going to Oak Brook shopping, but Carolyn ended up in the hospital. She seems to be in the middle of the area of 75th Street and Rt. 83, or 75th and Main Street in Downer's Grove (there are tons of restaurants in that area). Both are easily accessible from 355 or 55.
-
I don't know the burbs that well but I do remember this fantastic traditional Cantonse Chinese restaurant (like the Chinese we had as kids in the 60's/70's) out in Westmont called China Chef. That's pretty much the only place I know other than stuff near/in the Oakbrook Mall.
http://www.chinachefwestmont.com/
I think that's close.

I would love to join the group when we get together with Carolyn.
I am in town this coming weekend. Out of town 2/10-13.
Lago - I can drive if you would like a ride.
-
Sending warm hugs to Carolyn. So sorry to hear this news from Dy. I too would like to join the group if a visit is possible. I'm thinking too, that it is best if we go to her so she can conserve her energy. Mapquest is my friend!
-

I will be with you in spirit when you finalize the plans and go to visit Carolyn....sending my hugs and positive thoughts your way!
Wendy, you wouldn't have fit into my suitcase this trip. I had it crammed to the hilt, but we had room in the car and plenty of room in the condo. We sat out on the beach a little bit today. It was a little cool because the wind was pretty strong but we just couldn't resist. We also walked about four miles on the beach and it was so good to get back into the walking routine. I wish you were all here with us. We'll try again tomorrow. It sounds like you have a major storm approaching. BRRR! I really do feel sorry for you! (and I am indeed sincere)
Hugs to all of you!

Good morning!
Of course, I'm up for a group get-together with Carolyn. jmo...it seems that the Schaumburg area or some place off of 355 usually works well for north, central and south siders. Just say when and where.
Rita & Navy - Soak up that VitD and bring some back for us.
---------------------------
Snow is headed our way. I'll be skiing for sure.
Keep warm and safe.

Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the willingness to deal with them joyfully.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie -
Good morning everyone. I promise to do my utmost to remember the above posting in the next few days. Headed our way is anywhere from 1/2 inch to an inch of ice along with lots of snow. Hopefully, we can deal with that......but they are positioning Ameren crews all over to deal with the many power outages they expect to have happen.
Rita -- Wow...how fortuitous to have picked this time to be in Florida. The Gods were with you when you selected your dates.
I'll be thinking of all of you of course. Hoping for a miracle that lots of this storm will dissipate and not cause anyone too many problems.
Stay warm and dry.
Big warm hugs to Carolyn.

Adey - Linkie still no workie! lol What page/post are you referring to?
----------------------------------------
My friend works for a market research company. She is currently looking for several people (PM me if you know anyone who fits this description):
45 minute phone survey - the pay is $150 (if you qualify after a short questionnaire-totally legit opportunity).
If you are employed in a hospital (any city/state) as any of the following:
Hospital Administration
Procurement
Environmental Services
Maintenance & Housekeeping
Do you make purchasing decisions (paper products, tissue, etc.)?
Do you influence purchasing decisions?
Do you communicate with reps?
If so, there's a 45 minute phone survey - the pay is $150 (totally legit, this is not a scam).

Hey, this might be my reason for getting another trip in this year......viva Las Vegas!
I will go anywhere with our dear friends. I just hope it is on a weekend.
Jackie, do you have a fireplace? Gather up some wood, young lady! I keep hearing all about this fierce storm coming our way. Jackie, you are perhaps the furthest south, so keep us posted from the start. The clouds yesterday looked positively weird yesterday. Did any one notice?

Dear Carolyn:
I prayed for you last night. I awoke and prayed for you around two in the morning. I prayed for peace. I am going back to a quote Jackie provided awhile ago to perhaps offer some strength today:
The essence of life is not in the great victories and grand failures, but in the simple joys.
- Jonathan Lockwood HuieI wish you simple joys today!
