As I have tried and failed and tried again, I have discovered that if we are to flourish as creative beings, if we are to grow into Wholeness, we must bloom wherever we are planted. Right now, you might not have the perfect career, home, or relationship.Few of us do.But if you have the gift of today, you've got another chance to re-create your circumstances and make them as perfect as it's possible to do with the resources you have.Today, you get another chance to get it as right as you can make it.What more could you desire? -Sarah Ban Breathnach

So great to get to start over every day to get it right. This is so much of what I thought after my cancer dx. and tx. I was very fortunate to get to start over. To not only appreciate but love my life --- with all its and my imperfections, with the things that just won't seem to go right, with the 'bad' hair blues. Still when I wake up in the morning -- even if it is tiny things and even tiny steps, I can try to create good things. A smile for someone who seems sad, well wishes to someone who doesn't feel well and as always running to town to feed feral cats.
We all can IMPROVE every day, because every day there is someone to love and someone to help and even if it is the smallest of things that may seem inconsequential to you --- they are added in a pile that enlarges so big. You are a part of that -- you can start over every day and create your kind of special beauty to give to the world at large -- giving yourself. One of the best gifts ever !!!

To me, the essence of keeping the soul nourished is obedience to one's
conscience. I don't think that the soul can be nourished unless people
have a strong sense of conscience that they have educated and
developed and soaked in the universal and timeless principles of integrity
and service. This way, the individual's soul becomes part of the universal
soul of service, contribution, and making a difference. -
"The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind. But the goodness of a person spreads in all directions."
-- Chanakya -
Love is the doorway through which the human soul passes from selfishness to service and from solitude to kinship with all humankind.

"Sometimes life will test you but remember this: when you walk up a mountain, your legs get stronger."
-- Author Unknown -
Never make your home in a place.
Make a home for yourself inside your own head.
You'll find what you need to furnish it -
memory, friends you can trust, love of learning,
and other such things.
That way it will go with you wherever you journey.
- Tad Williams -
When your life is filled with the desire to see holiness in every day life, something magical happens: ordinary life becomes extraordinary, and the very process of life begins to nourish your soul.
Harold Kushner
-
All the world is searching for joy and happiness, but these cannot be purchased for any price in any marketplace, because they are virtues that come from within, and like rare jewels must be polished, for they shine brightest in the light of faith and in the services of brotherly love. -Lucille R. Taylor
-
You have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this world's happiness now. How? By giving a few words of sincere appreciation to someone who is lonely or discouraged. Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today, but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime. -Dale Carnegie

Passion doesn't come from business or books or even a connection with another person. It is a connection with your own life force, the world around you and the spirit that connects us all. YOU are the source. Books, work, music, people, sunsets all provide sparks, but only you can light the fire.
Jennifer James

"Adversity is another way to measure the greatness of individuals. I never had a crisis that didn't make me stronger." ~ Lou Holtz

Just popping in to keep you company, Jackie. I stop in every few days to read your wonderful quotes. Thanks for keeping this thread going.

It was hot as blazes in Rome & Tuscany, but at least we got to enjoy ourselves. Apparently it was the heat back here that caused almost all of our tomatoes to ripen--and our basil to grow almost out of control--while we were away. We’re getting a rare couple of days in the 80s before the heat starts climbing again tomorrow.

You may not have saved a lot of money in your life, but if you have saved a lot of heartaches for other folks, you are a pretty rich person.
Seth Parker -
True humility is intelligent self-respect which keeps us from thinking too highly or meanly of ourselves. It makes us mindful of the nobility God meant us to have.Yet it makes us modest by reminding us how far we have come short of what we can be. -Ralph W. Sockman
-
We don't always know whose lives we touched and made better for having cared, because actions can sometimes have un-seen ramifications. What's important is that you do care and you do act.
Charlotte Lunsford

Happiness is not a brilliant climax to years of grim struggle and anxiety.
It is a long succession of little decisions
simply to be happy in the moment.
- J. Donald Walters -
Joy is what we are, not what we must get. Joy is the realization that all we want or need in life has been etched into our souls. Joy helps us see not what we are "going through," but what we are "growing to"--a greater sense of understanding, accomplishment, and enlightenment. Joy reveals to us the calm at the end of the storm, the peace that surpasses the momentary happiness of pleasure. If we keep our minds centered on joy, joy becomes a state of mind. -Iyanla Vanzant

Karma is simply the law of cause and effect. If you plant an apple seed, you don't a get a mango tree. If we practice hatred or greed, it becomes our way and the world responds accordingly. If we practice awareness or loving-kindness, it becomes our way and the world responds accordingly. We are heirs to the results of our actions, to the intentions we bring to every moment we initiate. We make ripples upon the ocean of the universe through our very presence. -Christina Feldman and Jack Kornfield

If, like a Cherokee warrior, I can look at the new day as an opportunity to stand on new ground, then strength and courage are on my side.I will remember that things do work out, bodies do heal, relationships mend--not because I said it, but because I believe it.But it is time to make things right, to stay on the path.As water runs fresh and free from the woodland spring, so new life and meaning will bubble up from my own inner source.I will be still and steady, because there is nothing to be gained by showing fear in a chaotic world. - Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Studies of volunteers have shown there is a benefit to performing acts of love for other people. The irony is that it is actually in your best interest to be selfless. The things you do for the benefit of others not only make you feel fulfilled, they increase your chances of living a long and happy life. Remember that an act of love always benefits at least two people.|
Bernie S. Siegel -
Nothing is more valuable than your self respect.
When you lose respect for yourself, you have lost everything.
Whatever it takes, and whoever you upset,
do what you know - deep inside - is the right thing.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie -
When you commit yourself to living love,
you feel at peace with yourself because
you are at harmony with the flow of life.
Viewing life from the highest perspective,
you feel confident and secure.You
realize that no matter how things may
appear, you are loved and protected.
You know you are one with God, and
you bring your peace with you wherever
you go. You're not looking for love,
but for opportunities to love. -
Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit.
Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever,
even if your whole world seems upset.
- Saint Francis de Sales -
Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have empirically learned through the years. It means to trust your self to integrate intuition and experience. There is a balance, a harmony to be nurtured, between the head and the heart. When the intuition rings clear and true, loving impulses are favored. -Brian L. Weiss

Listen for my stories in the whispers of the wind.
Listen to the truth in the gurgling of a mountain brook.
Nature remembers the truth. Be still and listen.
Listen to your heart's guidance.
- Susan Gregg -
Lots of heat, soaking humidity along with the soaking rains. Under flood watches. We have several very large creeks here that will flood farmer's fields to quite an extent. This usually happens when we have big rains. Not real sure if roads around those creeks will be affected -- will have to wait and see. Not expecting anything in town to be a problem though we already have a very high water table so some basements could have some not so nice issues.
Hope all affected throughout the state will be ok.

I just passed my 5 year cancer anniversary on Friday. That was the day the tumor was removed in an excisional biopsy. The day I knew I had cancer was on my birthday because the surgeon didn't call me to tell me it was benign. He'd promised to call me then if the news was good. But this coming birthday is good, because I'm still NED.
-
Hugs and love to you ---- may you be NED into forever.
Blessings to your and your family
Jackie
