Hello!! My name is Claudia and I live in Italy. I have been taking femara for one year now and I am tired all the time! My joints hurt and my hair isn't as thick as before...but my lung metastases are in regression!!!!
Last year they gave me only a couple of years to life..BUT HERE I AM!!!
I have been fighting against cancer for 16 years!!!So I want to say that the side effects are a just little price to pay!!!Here in Italy femara is free!!!!!
I hope you keep on fighting like I do!!!
Lots of hugs..Claudia

Hello I have been on femara for a little over 2 years after having had chemo, radiation and tamoxifen for 5 years. The past 2 years I have had more sinus infections than in my whole life requiring antibiotics. I have also had some of the other issues described in these comments so it really is helpful to know that the hair, joint stuff is from those drugs. Has anyone found themselves having more sinus infections than ever before? Keep on fighting everyone! Durcy

Hello, My name is Cathy, I have been on femara for 2 years after taking tamoxifen for 16 months. I had bone and joint pain as well as muscle pain. I am much better now, it kind of subsided about 6 months ago. I am over weight and wanted to lose the weight and have cut the calories pretty much and am losing verrry slowly. I read that femara won't cause weight gain but can make it hard to lose weight. I believe it now. If anybody has heard that I would like to know. Good luck with Femara
-
I am finding that it is very hard to lose weight on Femara. I have cut back the food and calories and am still only losing maybe a pound a week. As before the Femara and tamoxifen I could lose pretty easy if I cut back calories. Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I'm having more trouble loosing weight on Femara also. Like yourself, I've cut back on my calories and increased my exercise/activities but the scale is not budging. It's frustrating, isn't it? Some of my problems seems to be water retention, as I'm puffy.
I'm glad you found bc.org.

Hi Darcy,I'm getting over my first sinus infection in years. I started Femara 3 months ago, after five years on Arimidex.I have not read anything about Femara and sinus infections per se.Tender

Hi,
I was on Femara for 9 months when I pulled the plug. SE's were anxiety, depression, fatigue, mental fogginess, joint pain, nausea and diarhhea. Nasty drug.
-
I have been on Femara now for 21/2 years I also have bone mets I found that if I take it going to bed it doesnt give me upset stomach the only thing is that if there are side affects with any medication I seem to take them therefore I have put on weight have hand and feet syndrome hot flushes and joint pain but if it keeps the DEVIL away I would take anything.

My Oncologist told me that my weight gain in my legs is due to Femara
-
I have been on femara since March. I too was on tamoxifen for 2 yrs before that. I had a little water retention in my feet, a little heartburn.... and thats it.
