Its always nice to check in with each other once in a while. I was diagnosed april 2005, have bilateral mastectomy, removal of ovaries and reconstruction in June 2005. Started chemo in August and finished chemo December 2005.
Last year at this time, I was a pretty sick cookie with no hair. What a difference a year makes.
I have IDC 3cm tumor, er/pr negative, her2 positive, one of 14 nodes positive.
It feels good to say I am a 1 1/2 year survivor.

I was diagnosed December 2005...TAC chemo, bilateral mast, rads. ER/PR+, three very aggressive tumors...stage IIb. Taking Arimidex (chemopause that is hopefully permanent) and yippee...osteopenia now so adding another drug...Fosamax.
I will say that I feel much better than last year...hair is coming back and still here!!!
Planning a KCA (kicked cancers a$$) class of 2005 reunion in 20 years (and 30 and 40 etc.)

I'm in 2005 as well. Diagnosed 12/23/04, bilateral 3/10/05, chemo ended 6/05, started Tamoxifen 7/05, enough hair grew back that I ditched my wig for good on Thanksgiving 05. I, too, plan to attend the 10, 15, and 20 year reunions.

Yeah- Class of 2005
A year ago I was completely devastated. Now I am stronger than ever....
October 6, 2005- Dx IDC 2 tumors + DCIS, triple +, grade 3
October 11, 2005- MRM, axillary dissection 5+ nodes
November 15, 2005-April 4, 2006- 4 DD A/C, 12 taxol + herceptin, 28 rads, 5 boosts, continuing herceptin q 3weeks
April 28, 2006- oophorectomy, start Arimidex
September 12, 2006- Stage I bilateral DIEP reconstruction
Still to go: Stage II and tattoos for recon, continue herceptin until 2008 (my choice), may have to have thyroid removed- find out in November, hope to qualify for vaccine trial -
Class of 05 here!
Found the lump end of January 05
Diagnosed February 05 - left breast, IDC 2.1cm, er/pr+, Her2/neu-, 2/10 lymph nodes positive
Double mast March 05 (simple total and modified radical), ovaries out and port inserted all that month.
April 05 - Dose-dense chemo AC four treatments, T four treatments
September 05 - started rads - finished Nov (?) have to check those dates.
Started Arimidex hmmmm, Nov-Dec ? also need to check for that one.
Other than Arimidex SE's, doing great - hair 6" long now and still curly, haven't cut it yet!
During treatment: worked, bought a house and moved in by ourselves, painted 5 rooms, took care of neighborhood cats, and spent money on frivilous things that made me happy
This past year: went through the torturous FAFSA process (yikes!), moved youngest child to college (anyone remember the pictures of her dorm? ), completed 3 faculty searches at work, and am about to start a new position that's so big it's scarey!
Every time I get cancer flashbacks, I remind myself that it's about LIVING, not dying.
I'm gonna do crazy things this coming year :-)
Leslie - -
HI girls,
Dx: 2/05, bilateral mast. 2/23/05, did dose dense chemo and 25 rads ( had 4+nodes) six months to day of dx.
Had a year of Herceptin finishing last May and a year so far of Arimidex. I'm 41 and back to doing "regular life" with my husband and five kiddos. I have my exchange this month and then just the procedures to get the "accessories".
What a crazy time it was. I just read a book about a woman who had a stroke at age 37 called," Don't Leave Me This Way or when I get back on my feet you'll be sorry" by Julia Fox Garrison and I realized that everything she went through mirrored the terror and heartache and struggle and ultimately changed lives we've all had. No two of our stories have been the same and yet we are here and are survivors. I say cheers to the class of '05! And God bless! Thanks for being here ladies. I couldn't have survived some days without you!
Hugs,
Wendy -
Guess I'll nominate myself into the class of '05.
Found my lump 12/7/04 (on my grandbabies b'day).
Dx'd with IDC, 4.5 cm
Had all the scans..started chemo Jan. or Feb. 05
Dose dense AC/Taxol..finished May (I think)
Had mastectomy in June '05 (I think)
(I can't remember any dates..lol)
Had rads whenever!
Did Xeloda for six months..finished that in April, '06 (I know that date.
Started Arimidex 5/19/06 (know that one too cuz it was my b'day...did that on purpose SO I WOULD remember)
I've had my hair cut three times and frosted once. Needs frosting again. I'm hoping my fog and fatigue will wear off. Otherwise, doing fine.
This is a great site and I have learned sooooo much. Thanks to all!
Shirley -
I'm in the class of '05. Got my dx in January. I'm honored to be among such a distinguished group of ladies.
I still remember those first few weeks. Oh goodness. I was so afraid of dying. Now I don't think about that much at all. Ya'll have taken such good care of me.
IDC 2.6 cm er/pr+ her2-
0 nodes
2 lumpectomies
4 TAC
a huge number of rads
AIs for what feels like forever
GO CARDINALS!!! -
I'm here too!
Diagnosed April, 2005 (found suspicious area on my first ever mammogram ... ultrasound ... I insisted on a biopsy which ended up being Stage 1 IDC... whew... so glad I didn't wait and watch for 6 months like they suggested! ) - oncotype dx text, skipped chemo, hysterecomy and rads ... started Arimidex in Sept ...
Hi everyone! I'm forever grateful and thankful that I found this site and the discussion boards in particular. What a wonderful sharing and supportive site ...
Hugs to everyone!
Doreen -
I'm in this class, too! Diagnosed after routine annual mammo in May, 2005. Had lumpectomy, ER/PR+, Her2-, 1.2cm, no lymph node involvement. No chemo, but finished 37 rad treatments in October, 2005.
In a few weeks, I'll be celebrating my one year anniversary of end of treatments. And, in November, I'll be celebrating a successful year of no side effects from Tamoxifen. (4 more years to go!)
I do thank all of you here who've been there for me during this journey. I don't come to the boards as often (guess I'm "moving on" emotionally), but, all of you are never too far from my thoughts and my heart.
Best wishes to all of you and here's to many, many reunions together in the future.
hugs and love,
vicki -
I'm an '05. Doctor found lump in May - off for a biopsy then lumpectomy and SNB. Bone mets confirmed a few weeks later, started on Arimidex, Zometa and Zolodex. Had ooph in Jan. Preogression in May and am now on Aromasin and Zometa.
It's been nice getting to know everyone (we really should have picked a different way to meet!) Wendy - your new pic looks great!
((hugs))
Kari -
Hey thanks, Kari!!! You pic is great too! I finally figured out that resizing thing. The trees are so pretty in WI right now.
So great knowing all my 2005 sisters.
Hugs and prayers,
Wendy -
