A Great Poem

Some people on various websites differ on who the original author is, but it's nice, nonetheless and speaks for me.
Christian by Maya Angelou
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

fd,
Dr Angelou is one of ny very favorites. I never miss an opportunity to warch her and someday I do hope to actually hear one of her lectures.
She is truly a Renassiance woman.
I am able to read anything she has written and actually hear her voice, deep, quite articulate, and her dramatic pauses.
This woman is so very wise, I truly feel like a hopeless fool when listening to her. She always puts me in awe. So wise, such a very good heart. A listener to all of humanity.
Thank you so much for posting something of Dr Angelous. -
Rhymeee,
You're welcome. A friend send this to me in an email a while ago. I deleted it, but found it again online.
Maya Angelou's writings are amazing. She is so wise.

Ferne,
Thank you for posting this.
We are all human, and I for one struggle
all the time . We are saved by not works or deeds
but by his grace.
hugs,
Carrie -

I'm glad this poem has meant something to you all.
It reminds me that we are all still God's work in progress. God hasn't given up on any of us. We're only human and He is a forgiving God. As long as we try to live the way He'd like us to, we're going to be OK. I know I owe everything to Him, and would not be where I am today without faith, humility and His love for me.
God Bless you all; I pray for all of the women on the boards alot.
