Writing about cancer and the Internet

Dear everybody,
I'm a writer (and breast cancer survivor) doing a story about getting through cancer and the Internet. When I had cancer, 10 years ago, the discussions and chats didn't exist.
I wish they had.
Have these discussion groups been helpful? In what ways? Personally? Medically? Emotionally? And how?
thanks,

Barbara

Absolutely... this board has been a tremendous help to me... I live in a remote area - the only support groups for breast cancer meet during the day (when I work) - and even if I could go to them... the support would be there - but I wouldn't fit in - since this is a retirement community. On these boards I've found women who have basically the same situation as me ... some who have completed treatements offering advice, some who have recently completed the treatment I'm starting, and others who are "behind" me - looking for guidance and suggestions from me. The discussions here open up many more alternatives and suggestions ... and the information in very empowering. The information is available on this website and on the forums 24X7 ...

Have specific questions ... feel free to send me a PM (private message).

I'd like to talk further on a private message. Can you tell me how to do it?

    Thanks,

Sure - click on my name (all the way over on the left) - it will show my profile - and at the bottom you'll see links to send a Private message, add to address book, or show all user's posts ....
click on send Private message - composure your message - and when you've sent it - I'll see an envelope under my screen name in the light blue header (telling you this so you know where to look when I respond...).

You can also send and view PMs from the "My Home" area.
