I was on this board I think in April and have been away from the boards for the most part. I was diagnosed in 12-05, had mastectomy the end of January and will be finishing chemo (yea!) on July 3. Then it will be on to radiation and then hormonal therapy. I was diagnosed as stage IIIA with a 6.5 lobular tumor and 9 (I believe out of 9) positive nodes. There is an area on my liver they will be checking again (it showed clear on the pet/ct scan which I understand is very accurate but of course not 100%) Anyway, it seems as if the closer I get to the end of treatment, the more I worry. Tonight has been a very dark night with a lot of worries. Oh well, maybe it is just because I had chemo today and I'm so full of drugs and tired. I put this all in God's hands and I know whatever happens it will be okay but still I worry.
Anyway, I wanted to pass this little story I found along to you all (I work at a church and often use articles like this for newsletters and such) I don't know who the author is but it is very poignant and kind of reminds me of these boards in a way-

Just up the road from our house is a field that is home to two horses. From a distance, they look very much alike, but if you stop your car or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse, you will discover that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.
This alone is amazing.

If you're close enough and listen carefully, you will hear the sound of a bell. Then you will see that it comes from the other horse. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see that she is always checking on him, and that he listens for her bell and walks slowly to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back to make sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owner of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the beautiful bells of those God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others along their own difficult paths.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

Blessing to all
Shirley
