MY FIRST SENIOR MOMENT!

I want to tell all of you about someting that happened on June 4th as I was taking my kids to the movies.

I took my kids to see the new X-Men movies last Sunday. We decided to go to the 730pm showing. The price of the tickets is $8.00 per person. So naturally I expected to pay $24.00. The young lady behind the counter, who looked all of 10 or 11, said the total was 18.00. OK. I was just a little perplexed. Then I looked at the tickets. My kids were charged student prices. They are 19 and 15. ME? I burst out laughing when I saw "SENIOR" printed on my ticket. Yes, folks, I just had gotten my FIRST SENIOR CITIZEN discount! My daughter called it a CLassic Moment in time! I must have looked ancient to this young lady. Oh well, what are you going to do. I think it is SOOOOOOOOOO funny. I should tell you that I am still the borderline, ruggedly handsome, 51 year old who you have come to know these past months. THe young lady must have thought I looked like the ancient mariner or death itself.
This whole episode has helped me to laugh (A LOT!) for the first time since Kathy's passing. I am thankful for that. We all need to laugh....sometimes at ourselves.

I'm glad you had a laugh at yourself. The first time you've had a laugh like that since your wife's passing? That's wonderful. Hmmm...that "little girl" was a blessing to you -- I think perhaps a little joke sent to you from your new angel.

Apparently now it's not just beauty that is in the eye of the beholder -- "old" is in the eye of the beholder!!

My husband and I had the same experience when we were visiting Florida and decided to take in a matinee since the weather was cold and rainy. We were also charged senior prices even though we were 53 and 48 at the time. I guess it helps when you have a husband who is very bald and very grey!!
