Quote:
Hi friends. I know this is a shock to you because I rarely give any warning on the site, but I was hoping was a pinched nerve is actually mets inside my spinal cord. For those of you that are "newbies" to this site, I've had breast cancer since 2003 and had a brain tumor removed this past May.
Right around 12/30, I woke up with a terrible pain between my shoulder blade and spine, right in the muscle. I used hot and cold pads and it helped a bit but as they days went on, it hurt more and kept me up at night. I was a little dizzy, losing my balance and then, I had tingling in numbness in my butt and legs. Then I knew it wasn't good.
We live about an hour from our Univesity Hospital (Ireland Cancer Center) in Cleveland. We dropped the kids of to school and Mom's and headed north. I called the onc's office and told her that we were going to ER and asked them to refer me. It takes forever in their ER and they ask a million questions about your dx, px, who your docs are blah blah blah. Thank God my doc called the cell phone and said to come right to the cancer center and they would handle it all. Got there at 10:30, got the IV, the decadron and was dx'd after a lengthy MRI by 2:00. Went straight down to radiation onc and my favorite doc showed up. They got me all marked up and I had my first spinal radiation at 5:30! They kept me overnight and had my second radiation at 7am yesterday morning. I was down there for 5 hours and they have me all set for the third rad on Monday. I think I have the best doctors in the whole wide world.
I am on a lot of drugs but my back pain is now a 3 instead of an 11. I still consider this a chronic illness and and will keep fighting!
I love all of you and think of you often; I just rarely have time to reply and take care of myself and my family! I'll check back in later.
Shelli,
I just read about the mets in your spine and wanted to pop
this back up and get all the prayer warriors sending lots of healing prayers your way for a quick response . Know that we love you Shelli!
Hugs,
Carrie -
