I just heard that a very nice women, who was the Komen luncheon guest of honor and speaker last year here locally, died of leukemia at age 43. Chemotherapy induced leukemia after breast cancer. She fought the beast just to sucomb to another.
It can happen. She got a bone marrow transplant and did okay at first. Then her body rejected.
She spoke of her bc journey at the Komen lunch, she was so motivating and even though I did not yet know what was coming at me at the time, her experience helped me out when I got my full diagnosis.
She has a wonderful family and supporting husband who went to each treatment with her.
I am sooo sad.
Her name was Kathy Fiorillo.
May God keep her close and bless her family.

Calico,I am so sorry to hear this. Now we have to worry about this to after chemo? Will this nightmare never end?
Will remember you and her family in my prayers -
Robin,
I think it is a very very small percentage of people getting it and I asked my onc what her chances were with bone marrow transplant, he said 30 %.
Just another reason to keep that immune system of ours up and running!
God Bless -
This just strengthens my view that every day is precious and should be lived accordingly! One never knows what's around the corner.
My heart goes out to her family. -
calico, so sorry to hear this news.
