Mom says thanks for the congrats on her finishing rads. She says her skin is doing well. Seems she had a fungal infection under one arm. Is that unususal? She got some stuff from the doc and everything is looking much better. She is doing much better now.

Carrie, Sherry, Doreen -- Thanks for the pat on the back. Mom and dad are very proud. DH hubby just said, "I knew you could do it." I guess that's proud.

Blu, tell your mom fungal infection under the arm from rads is not unusual. Those body parts are so moist to begin with and then you start zapping away and even skin that didn't split or crack, or develop sores can be prone to infection. Everything is just so exposed. Glad the doc has given her some antibiotic cream for that and it's working. Other than that, I'm glad her skin is holding up and she's healing well. Rads takes so much out of you!! You don't realize it at first, but it certainly does drain you.

I got a fungal infection in my arm pit during rads too... did they give your mom that antiobiotic powder to sprinkle on her underarm ?? Mine fungal infection was persistent and came back several times.... tell her she should keep using the powder (if that's what they gave her) for several days after she thinks that she needs to ...

Congrats Blu I am a proud sedo mom!

You gals are so right on so many counts, that thread was deleted and nothing I did could have stopped it! This board is just more friendly and less stressful even when we have crisis. I come here more often than anywhere else.

I just think it is funny my first bio posts on the seven goats has been deleted! I am not in the mood to post about them now.

    Maybe later.

Fungal stuff is not uncommon Blu.

Carrie, I don't know how on the earth you've got chemo brain when you have never done chemo but I'm afraid to say that my b'day is in Dec. Don't make me get older so soon! Although I don't believe that we need reasons to party! Especially eye candy is always good. I don't want him to have much muscles or meat. I'd love him to have slightly longish hair but no mustache. After all I'm not a big fan of hairy guys.
Oh and I say hummm or yummm when I see this and that under the kilt!

BTW can anyone in God's sake get HIM (you know who I mean!!!) outta here please??? I have never ever liked him ever since he came to the boards and I knew he would cause a big mess when I saw his post for the first time. I did warn him but obviously I wasn't going to be heard. I just can't stand HIM anymore!

Fumi, I'm with you ~~ getting older sooner is no fun, but if Carrie finds you some nice eye candy sooner than your birthday, is that so bad?!?!

If only we could get you know who to go you no where!! The feeling here is pretty much unanimous about what's going on right now. And that one, and any of the others who are trolling this board are eating this up like cake & ice cream!! How pathetic is that!!

Maybe we could have a party just to get some eye candy? image

I just have to wonder why the board admin lets him stay. Apparently she has chosen to have him here. When HE started posting, some ladies did PM her and let her know their concerns. But as far as I know, nothing happened. Then now again. I'm sure there is a bunch of ladies who have PM'd her and she did delete one thread that HE ruined. This makes me wonder. If she had been aware what's going on, why couldn't she have got rid of him instead of just deleting one thread?
There's another poster who has been causing a lot of mess as well. You know who I mean. SHE only wants to use this board as her blog or what? I don't even believe SHE's suicidal or has mental issues. If SHE was, she would rather choose to be quiet in her shell than say things out loud in public or things she says wouldn't make sense at all?

I think an eye candy party is in order!! Carrie, Fumi has spoken with her request ~~ a pre birthday party, with eye candy!! Let the invitations roll!

It's a hard subject to deal with Fumi. Wherever you have open board forums like this you will have all kinds of people joining ~~ some are legitimate, some are not, some are trolls. Why anyone would want to belong to a board like this if they didn't have to (i.e. having breast cancer or if not directly having breast cancer just being here and joining the support forums & threads because they are helping a loved one, and I mean seriously being supportive of that loved one and all the other members of the board) is beyond me. To cause fear, to cause disruption and animosity are the most simple explanations.

I can say this. If I didn't need to be here, I certainly wouldn't be. And having to spend more time walking around land mines to get valuable information or support other women who truly need support, that to me is very sad indeed.

It's really up to the moderator to decide what is acceptable and what isn't. Perhaps more voices expressing the very serious concern about the reputation of what this board is meant to represent is needed. Frightening women who may already be terrified is not what this board is meant to be about. JMO

I'm happy leaving the discord where it is. However, if a troll really wants to do it's job and do what it does best, it will infiltrate everywhere, whether alone, by being more than one person or in groups. I've learned so much about this since joining the board and my son and his 18 year old friends have given me much valuable insight. Did I need the insight? No. Having breast cancer is enough on my plate thanks.

    Hi Kathy,

I don't want to call HIS name here as I don't want to stoop down to his level. So let's just say that there's a male poster who continues to claim how bad the conventional treatments can be and how you should choose alternatives. We could have cared less if he only had believed things like that and hadn't voiced it on the board like this where a lot of newly diagnosed ladies come to seek for legitimate information. To deliberately scare them with unproved information shouldn't be allowed here.

    Sherry,
    Quote:

Having breast cancer is enough on my plate thanks.

So you mean you have no space on your plate anymore for eye candy? And I can keep them all? image

WOO-HOO Denise way to start a party

    Oh my gosh Fumi
I am such a twinkie . I think maybe I got chemo brain from going to all Denise's treatments and inhaling the fumes.

So what the heck we will do like the Mad Hatter in Alice in
Wonder land and have a unbirthday party for you .....

A very merry unbirthday to me
    To who?
    To me
    Oh you
A very merry unbirthday to you
    Who me?
    Yes, you
    Oh, me

    Let's all congratulate us
    With another cup of tea
A very merry unbirthday to you

    Now statistics prove
    Prove that you've one birthday
Imagine, just one birthday every year
Oh, but there are three-hundred and
    sixety four unbirthdays
Precisely why we're gathered here to cheer

Why then today's my unbirthday, too!
    It is?
What a small world this is
    In that case...

    A very merry unbirthday
    To me?
    To you
    A very merry unbirthday
    For me!
    For you
Now, blow the candle out my dear
And make your wish come true.
A very merry unbirthday to you!

I have to say that my biggest and worst fear has come true. How I wish it had been much nicer news.
I've got lymphedema. My affected arm (right) has been slightly swollen for a week or two. I asked my oncologist with a slim hope if it's really lymphedema as I knew Taxol causes swellings and I've been on it since April. When I was on it before surgery, I did get some swelling in my legs. But unfortunately it's not Taxol according to him. He's almost sure it's lymphedema as there's no swelling in my non-affected arm. Damn damn damn! What have I done to deserve this? Mind you, I'm single and have no one that is able to financially support me. I can't lose my job! He said all I can do at this point is not to overuse my right arm (and I'm righty thanks!!!) and give it massage. Bloody hell, my job is taking care of my clients and I do have to visit them everyday. I do need to drive a lot! I was planning a trip to Australia this winter to see my best friend. Is that too much to wish? I hate that I've had my biggest fear come true while I've lost too much to dream. I'm just hoping this damn swelling doesn't grow up too big so I can manage.

I really, really hate this! If I ever lose my job, I'll no longer be able to pay for my medical bills. I'll have to give up my treatments as there're no organizations that might help me. Our government must be thinking that the rich should survive and the poor should die quickly.

Yes Carrie, Binney is the resident expert on LE. Fumi, I am so, so sorry that this happened. It's what we all dread happening. We know it can but we just carry on living with the hope that it won't.

I'm thinking of you and I'm praying for you. Be good to yourself and try not to worry about what if for what's ahead and just get dealing with this in the here and the now. There's so much information and help on this board for LE ~ they'll get you through this.

Well, I'm really not up to the party at the moment as you all may know. But it doesn't mean you can ever play with my hotties who have been provided for ME while I'm down.

Yep the lady who is an expert on LE is Binney and she has kindly responded to my post on the LE board with tons of information. I can't even begin to thank her. As I said in my post there, I've found out that there seems to be a well trained therapist for LE near me, about 30 minutes drive away from my work. I should call them tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Apparently they do what you call "Lymph Drainage" and I'm hoping this can help me great deal.

Thanks so much for letting me vent and being there for me. You gals rock!

I'm so glad that Binney was able to help. She feels very protective of the LE group and you can see how much she cares by what she posts. You're in good hands there Fumi! And I think if you can see the LE therapist for some drainage that will make you feel better. Not just take the pressure off, but you'll know you're doing something about it.

We know you're not up for the party at the moment, but isn't it good Carrie gave you the "unbirthday" the other night?? Like she knew you needed something to smile about ahead of time. And we'll take care of your eye candy for you ~ we won't let the "hotties" go "cold"!!

Oh didn't I say my assistant oncologist is a real sweetie? He's been something to smile about, which is why I'm not quite happy that I've done #11 Taxol out of 12. I can see him every Saturday when I'm on it but when I'm done with it all, I won't see him as often as I do now. You may say I'm still able to see him every four weeks for the Lupron shot but it doesn't seem enough for me!!! I'm super attached to him and all the nurses.

Yeah, we do get attached to the special, wonderful people that are working with us along the way, don't we? And it definitely helps if they are good looking too!! I can see the reason you'll be sad to be finished taxol ~ wish I'd had something nice to look at during my tx!!!
