Carrie -
Hi everyone.
Well, I'm in the same boat Carrie was in. My family has been without power since the 19th! As of this morning, we still didn't have power. Right now, I'm at school with the kids (who both have been sick since Friday ) so we can be cool, watch a little TV, and I can check email and such on the wi-fi. The boys and I have spent a few nights with friends, but with the boys sick, we don't stay with anyone for too long. And not only have we been without power, but we just had to sink $3000 into our car as the brakes went out, A/C quit, and the radiator split. AARRGGHH!!!! So, not only are we hot, but now broke! Since the boys are sick, they can't go to day camp which means I can't go to work! -
You should be done with all the bad stuff for a while. They say they come in 3's. 1. No power, 2. car problems(brakes, AC, Radiator, 3's here, so no more car trouble), 3. kids sick. You're done.
Hope it gets better quick!!

(((((((Blu))))))
Thats it, Lini is right it comes in threes your done!
What is up with everyones power lately ? I do have my
phone back, and power is on. Don't forget to clean out the refrigerator blu and prop the door open or it will mold and smell like something died in there ewwww
hugs,
Carrie -
Carrie, that "smell" you described reminds me of the lovely room we had at the Inn for 3 days...a "smallish" room, 2 teenage boys with their shoes off...hopefully everyone who has not had power will be up and running again soon!
-
As of 7:45PM, we have power! The A/C, the TV, and the washing machine all got turned on right away! The microwave, computers, and frig were next. DH cleaned out the frig with bleach when he got home this evening (and is still working on it) since I strained my back trying to pick Daniel (65 pounds) up Sunday evening -- he'd fallen asleep at a friend's house who had us over for dinner.
The adgenda for the next several days:
1. laundry!
2. cleaning everything including the wall-to-wall carpet
3. call the pest control people (open windows for 8 days tends to invite uninvited guests)
4. go grocery shopping
Thanks Lini. From your keyboard to God's ears!
Momma Carrie, I made that mistake this afternoon. Another reason DH is cleaning the frig! It cleaned the chest freezer Saturday. 7 pounds of ground beef had melted on the 10 pizzas and various other foods. EEEWWW! Took me almost half an hour to clean!
So, now that we've all been grossed out on to a mom update. She's doing great! They are in New Mexico visting family (mom's mom, aunts, etc) and my brother and his family. I called her about 3 mintues after the power come on (I wanted to make sure something wasn't going to blow and us be without power again). She told everyone else and they cheered! Mom then told me they would help us celebebrate by ordering dessert!
I need to get to get short ones in bed and then cleaning.
Goodnight! -
Glad to hear you have power and things are back up and running Blu!! But what a mess you've had to get through ~ spoiled food, cleaning out the fridge and getting rid of bugs/vermin...
Glad your mother is doing well and that they all ordered dessert in honour of your power being returned!!
Happy cleaning Blu! -
Wow what an ordeal you have been through! Honestly I check this board once a day, I missed it all!
Glad you and your family is better and home safe. -
Blu, I'm glad you've got power back and running. I hate this season as I have a close friend in Fort Lauderdale. Last year as you all know, he had to go through a lot of major hurricanes and I had to be worried so much about him anytime I saw how terribly his part of world was hit. I hope you won't have as many hurricanes as you did last year.
I had my best friend coming over for this weekend. I also posted this on Moving Beyond board but just thought I'd share it here too. We went to see the special memorial service called "Manto-e" and took some pics. It's held at the same temple where I took cherry blossoms pics this past spring. Hope you enjoy!
Manto-e -
Fumi,
The photo's are beautiful ! I can imagine it it was more so
being there. Are the signatures or writings on the lanterns
and luminaries names of family members ? Thank you so much
for sharing some of your culture and sights with us , I love learning about your country it is so beautiful, the gardens and buildings and the people even your lettering is pretty.
Hugs,
Carrie -
Fumi - the photos are beautiful... so is the temple and the lanterns... Were you using a tri-pod ? Photos with so little light are really hard to keep in focus .. you did a great job with that. Thank you for sharing the photos.
Is it your best friend from Australia who was over for the weekend ???? -
Beautiful pix, thanks for sharing Fumi!
-
Hi Ladies, had to put at least one Baptism photo here. He was such a good boy as they actually pour water over their heads. He looked a bit puzzled as to what was going on and only cried when they took him out of the water.
Picked this one cos at least he is half decent on it lol.
All my tests have come back ok apart from the fatty liver. I am going to do more blood tests in October and an ultrasound just to make sure that it isn't getting too damaged.
Hugs
Mags -
Sorry ladies. I tried to resize it but no luck.
