I am a 23 year old guy and my girl friend 24, has BC. I have been doing all that I can. Sometimes just research, sometimes just browsing forums like this one to learn. Live. Hope. I was kind of sad the other day - then I happened to stumble accross a funny and cute web site http://thiscrazyjacket.com It was a cute little story about a guy who bought some Armani Jacket off of ebay and got rooked. The jacket arrived all ratty and worn. So, rather then get upset at it - he decided to put the Jacket to use. Now, the jacket goes all over the country raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness. There was even a school who got involved - and a celebrity baseball player. Anyway, the site cheered me up a little bit. Helped me remember something: Sometimes its best not to worry about what you CAN'T do. And do the things you CAN.

I hope we can help
you during this journey

It is a really cool song.
Thank you !!! Thanks to eveyone here who is open and accepting - and offers a place to come when there's no where else to go. -

on this board that you are most welcomed to. The guys have opened up the thread so there are woman that post there too. You will get lots of support and advise.
Of course you can post where ever you want but thought you might want to hook up with some men going through it too.

~~Patti~~ -

Ringo,
If you keep that thought in mind you are wise beyond your years. Men sometimes respond to illness
as wanting to 'fix it' but some things can not be fixed so they become angry and frustrated.
Not that to fix is a bad thing LOL it comes in very handy .
"The Breast Cancer Husband," by Marc Silver, that Greg HIGHLY recommends you get a hold of and read. It has chapters on virtually every aspect of this situation and you'll get a lot out of it.
Greg is one of our BC husbands and young like yourself.
This is a safe place Ringo to let it out rant and share .
Hugs to you and your girlfriend.
Carrie -
I agree with Carrie
welcome Ringo
to you and your girlfriend
we are here for you both

Greetings. I am a meber of the Crazy Crew here at http://thiscrazyjacket.com . Recently we have received a tremendous amount of emails explaining how they found our site from a link posted here (so, we decided to come by and say hello). Many of these emails were touching and moved us here at thecrazyjacket. Keep them coming.
We had no idea great places like this forum area existed. We think that it is wonderful there are places like this available for people to share.
Some of the stories that you have shared with us recently here at http://thiscrazyjacket.com touched us so much that we decided to make a special edition to our site. We are now, in the process of creating a "SURVIVORS" page.
We are doing this for ALL OF YOU !!!!!!!! who have endured, and survived and are still SURVIVING !!!
We are going to make a wall of survivors on http://thiscrazyjacket.com .
Please be patient, as it will take us a few days to put it together - but we wanted to start the ball rolling now. We welcome you to become a survivor - by emailing us at email@thiscrazyjacket.com with: a photo (if desired), display name, birthdate, your yahoo (if you want it displayed), your msn (if you want it displayed), your aim (if you want it displayed), your email (please let us know if you would like this kept private), County, State, City, and the date you became a Survivor in LIFE. Also a brief (100 char max) message to be posted (if desired).
Becoming a listed Survivor, on http://thiscrazyjacket is FREE, there is no charge. We are doing this to make a place to show EVERYONE in the world - YOU ARE SURVIVORS and you are HERE. And so that others know that they are NEVER ALONE.
Above everything else - we wanted to just stop in here and say thank you for all of your emails regarding out web site. Continue to email us. We always welcome mail - and we will always offer a friendly ear, or a shoulder to lean on.
The 7 CrazyCrew Members here extend their prayers and well wishes to everyone. (We have some SURVIVORS of our own.)
Continued Prosperity and HOPE ! -
Crazy Crew,
I think it would also be fitting to include Our Sisters
that have lost their battles with the beast.
So that others remember we need to fight for the cure.
We Have lost some of our warriors here recently and I am sure their families would love to post too. Just a thought.
Hugs,
Carrie, Denise's Sister
PS
Thank you so much for the awareness you are raising
May God bless you all -
Carrie & Pattie,
Again, I have to say thank you both !! I have done alot of searching out here on the web. I have seen alot of sights . . . and this one is by far my favorite. It is sooo welcoming to everyone.
I showed my girl friend all the postings on this topic I created. She hugged me. Not sure if she's ready to do any posting herself just yet - but it's a good feeling to know you guys are here.
O - and I have to agree that it would be a great thing for http://thiscrazyjacket.com to include those who have fought and left us.
How bout it Crazy Crew? -
Oppps I meant that I have seen alot of sites, not sights lol - it's way too early for me - I need coffee.
-
You guys are great. I think this is such a terrific and funny and touching idea.

"Oppps I meant that I have seen alot of sites, not sights lol - it's way too early for me - I need coffee. "
Ringo typos are always overlooked here!! lol
I can do some doozies (Is that how you spell that?)
Tell your girlfriend to jump right in when she feels up to it ! She will get lots of hugs and understanding from women that have been there done that and some that are where she is in her journey. There is not a thought or feeling she is having that someone here can't relate to.
There is even a board for young women going through BC here.
Hugs to you and your sweetie~

Hello all - Just a quick check in to say hi and YES ALL are welcome to get posted on our site http://thiscrazyjacket.com
As always, it is free . . . and if we get enough interest, we will split it into 2 areas: Those Remembered and The Survivors.
Thank you all again for all of your kind words and support. We are keeping busy with the site and responding to each and every email we receive. One of us will try to check in here from time to time as well - but if something comes up or you have a great idea for the Jacket - feel free to email us and catch us up on everything !!!
email@thiscrazyjacket.com or you can contact us directly through the web site http://thiscrazyjacket.com
we are always here to show support and do what we can.
Thanks again to everyone - especially those who have shared their lives with us recently !!!
See you all soon -
Patti, Cowgirl, someone?
What do you think about posting this in the moving beyond thread so more will see. If they are introduced by one of you Survivors they will be received well and more will see it.
YES, YES Crazy Jacket you should ask the ladies here if anyone would like to have their picture taken with the jacket to represent all the ladies and gentlemen at BC.ORG
Hey Mellisa you would be a good rep!
Thank you so much for including our Angels too!!
hugs,
Carrie -
Carrie I think it

From Patti a survivor
Warrior Women-Author Unknown...
You join an army of wounded women, who wear pretty clothes that conceal the scars and the pain and who summon brave smiles to camouflage anxiety. We each share a touching, intimate memory of a day that changed our lives forever.
A memory of a morning shower when we touched our breasts and cried. A long last look in the mirror, as we said good-bye. Good-bye to vanity. Good-bye to self pity. We haven't the time. We measure life in moments, and momentum.
We are the meaning of lifelong friends. Bosom buddies gathering strength from one another. We are courageous. We are proud. A circle of women, we span the globe, and we have touched eternity.
There is a word that strikes fear in our hearts--the word is recurrence. We try endlessly to search the reason. We valiantly fight to find the cure. We do so for daughters, granddaughters and for friends and ourselves.
We do so for the women who have gone before us. With each loss we feel tremendous anger. We rage. We taste fear. But with each loss our capacity to love deepens. It grows, it ripens, it blooms.
Each precious moment on this earth is a gift. We will not leave this gift unopened. We will not leave one smile undone. We will not leave one hug forgotten. We will not miss one opportunity to make a difference.
We are Women Warriors. Our casualties are high. The women who have gone before us have lost a battle with breast cancer, but they haven't lost the war.
We honor these women, we feel them, we remember them. We carry them with us, and we made each one a promise. A promise to never again look the other way.
We have breast cancer. We are alive.

I find this hysterical. Maybe we should have it sent to our team for the 'Race for the Cure' in Michigan? All the Breastcancer.org team members can have their picture taken with it on! Maybe we will even get more people to sign up?
-
ooo that is a good idea! Glad you did it carrie!
Sphynx I like that idea!!! What a bunch of brainiacs we have here! -
Hi all !!
You are all absolutely amazing !!! The amount of emails we are getting from everyone here on our web site - is incredible. We love it - keep them coming. We do answer each and every one of our emails, so please be patient if you don't receive an immediate response.
As for posting this in a new topic area? We are A.O.K with wherver you feel it is best. We're gonna leave that up to you guys here - as we are not quite sure how it all works with moving things and all here at BC.org
The poem is a great idea. We will come back to get it in a few days as our design crew is off for the weekend and spending time with their Moms for Mother's Day.
If someone could just give us the thumbs up via email email@thiscrazyjacket.com or through out web site contact area http://thiscrazyjacket.com , to let us know if there is any copy write on the poem. Due to the large volume of traffic we get on our site, we have to be very careful about using things without permission. I do hope you understand. We would just need a little more information before we could post it direcly on our site. (if someone could contact us, we can set that up)
And we certainly welcome EVERYONE to wear the jacket. It is a good thing. It is a FUN thing . . . and it's a thing that makes you just burst with a smile !!!
Well, I do hope I am not leaving anything out. One of us from TheCrazyJacket will check back in a few days. . . again - please don't hesitate to contact us !!!
We love email. We love ideas. And we love to listen.
Thanks, from The Crew at http://thiscrazyjacket.com
o - and Happy Mothers Day to all the moms !!!! -
Sphynx,
Thank you so much for posting crazyjacket in the Moving Beyond thread !!
Hugs,
Carrie -
I got confused - I cant find this message in the other forum, i think it got lost in the crowd
Anyway - I hope everyone is doing well. I have been busy planning and planning - I am taking my girlfriend to Disney in 2 weeks. We made a promise to each other - nothing but smiles on vacatin !!!
I just made reservations for two show/dinners there too - the hoop dee doo review and he aloha diner - anyone ever eaten there?
I am sooooo looking forward to this. We need a break from being sad and all.
Hope everyone has a good weekend,
Ringo -
Ringo,
Yes best thing in the world for you both to be able to unplug for awhile. Hope you both have a wonderful time.
The ladies might be a little hesitant as we get people once in awhile trying to sell their snake oil potions and ideals. It is an active board in moving beyond and might have got bumped down before many had a chance to see?
Also some prefer to not share as this is a very personal
journey.
hugs,
Carrie -
Ya - that's understood. I don't recall if http://thiscrazyjacket.com was actually selling anything - I think they were just giving away SMILES hahah.
Anyway thanks - im sooo looking forward to our vacation.
we're gonna go on every ride, and eat until we puke - which is a horrible combination hahahah
