HunkyD, I'll join you in a few drinks! Had a rough day myself, and a lot of stress......and we need to get in the party spirit so we can blow the roof off the HTL for Lori's Birthday!!!!
-
Glad to have some company...Yea. I am so glad for the weekend and Loris birthday. HD
-
PARTY ON!!!!!
-
I haven't been on as I went up to Tenn. today and went white water rafting for the first time!!! It was 7 class 4 rapids and lots of 3's! Very fun! There were a group of guys all together for a Wedding this weekend. Well they were drinking beer in the parking lot - a big no no! Anyway, the first rapid we go through is a class 4 and one of the guys falls out and under the boat. He got scraped up a bit but ended up getting rescued by our guide in our boat. It was grand fun, have always wanted to do that so now I'll have to take my kids. NM - the life vests were on so tight they felt exactly like a straight jacket!
Happy Birthday Goldie - I'm so sorry about the misbehaving munchkins - very hard when their parents won't step in and fix things or at least try for heaven't sake. Well I'm exhausted so on to get something to eat and hopefully sleep......

Par-tay Par-tay Par-tay........all y'all in the pool scootch over to the side while I jump in to join you! Or, as our birthday girl would say--move over, biotches!!!! Lori--hope you have had a glorious day----and, whatever restaurant you're in with those rowdy g-kids--hey, you're never gonna see those people again!!!! Give those g-kids a big hug and be glad you don't have to take them home with you!!!
There is a fab buffet being set up for Lori's bd dinner--as I float by, someone please toss something in my mouth--if I'm not slurping on a dog beer......not giving up my pool floatie--gonna lay here and float and float and drift and drink!!
BARMEN!!!!
-
Stanzie--I've been white water rafting a few times and yes, the life jackets are straight-jacket tight! Aren't the rapids fun? I loved it after the first one or two and figured out that I wasn't going to fall out or die of fright! I'm going to have to see if I can get a group together for a trip next summer. On all the trips I've been on someone has fallen out and gotten rescued, fortunately no one has been hurt more than scrapes and bruises.
Junie--the buffet is shaping up nicely, isn't it? Had a breakfast meeting at work yesterday, the buffet there was good, but nothing like what the Tenders and Wenches can put together!
Lori--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
DOTD, in honor of Lori, is the Happy Birthday:
1 oz Vodka
3/4 oz Raspberry Liqueur
1/4 oz Dark Creme de Cacao
1 oz Milk
-
There's even a special table of finger food for those of us who don't want to get out of the pool!
-
ROFLMAO at the "finger food" NM!!! And trying to scrape myself up off the floor (how the heck did I end up THERE???)......some party we had for Lori last night! Since she was AWOL since she is in CA, do we dare describe to her all the goings on we had in her honor? Such fun! My visiting DD is taking me out for a birthday lunch today (early!) since we will be out of the country for that event. Looking forward to that, but the stress of this weekend is really getting to me....will be glad when their bio father gets the heck outta town...and then to see what damage (emotionally) will be left here. Other than that, the weather is much more tolerable, and should be good for my SIL's triathlon tomorrow morning! Maybe we need another excuse to get drunk tonight!
BARMEN!

It's been a rough day girls! BARMEN!!!!!!!
-
YUP Chrissy, thats about how I look this morning....j/k...I feel like that though!!!
-
The kitty picture reminds me of a time I was traveling somewhere with my Mom and sister and whatever we had been doing made my hair (long) look totally wild like that. When we got in and I looked in the mirror I was horrified and sais, " oh my gosh look at my hair!" my Mom didn't miss a beat and said, "what? looks like it always does." She didn't mean it mean it was part of her sense of humor and we all fell out laughing. That became a joke for years when anyone would have odd bed hair or anything....
NM - I agree - I was nervous to begin with but quickly saw it was just fun not scary. I think as long as you listen to the guides you will be fine. I think you could still fall out but after the first big rapids it was pretty easy to see how to make sure you didn't. I so want to go again!

Hi Ladies....
Glad I found the forum that's actually fun. No swim-up bars last Saturday, but 1.5 hours of swimming in the Atlantic.
And yes, that's Veuve Cliquot in the glass. My friend Nadine had it waiting for me, for our joint celebration.
I can't believe that I considered not drinking wine for the rest of my life at one point. Not chemo brain, but think I was demented! - Claire
-
Welcome to the lounge Claire....excellent champagne! What in heavens name were you doing in the Atlantic Ocean for 1.5 hours swimming? Sounds cool anyway. Chrissy, I can remember not too long ago when I would have killed for hair to look just like that cats you posted. LOL! I bought pomade to get that very style. I also would like to visit your homeland. I get out every now and then....probably about a 100 mile radius! Wow! I am soooooo boring. I have started my pre surgery hydration early. It seems like the right thing to do today. I guess I didn't get enough nose of the dog or straight jackets yesterday. I am making box-o-brownie right now as an attempt to be a little more like Martha Stewart. In reality, I think I fit in the the Julia Childs catagory better. Hope someone will pop in for some company. Haven't seen AStorm around here humping anyones leg, so I guess her accidently taking the dog antibiotic didn't really cause a dog tail or other canine abnormality. LOL. Hugs to all! HD
-
haha hunky! I have a hangover and I only had one glass of wine yesterday. Woke up in the middle of the night with an awful headache and Tylenol isn't helping. and i kinda look like that cat.
-
To answer the question about swimming: swimming in ocean waves is one of my favorite things to do. I was back in the NYC area so my friend who provided the champagne also made sure I got in some beach time. Actually she beached it, and her son and I swam. I didn't even sit down.
Later, cherrystone clams, and more clams.
Just got back from a 20 mile bicycle ride just under the Cascades (flat route though). Sore, as it's been a couple of weeks. Think I will do more tomorrow.
I have to show my lazy hide who's boss. Then relax with a glass or 2 of wine.
-
Happy Saturday!!!! Think Saturday allows for very early happy hour starts!!!!
Love the white-water rafting enthusiasm! Some years ago (when I was divorced and insane and pre-BC) a close coworker asked me to go rafting with her. She was trying to "bond" with a college-aged stepdau but also wanted an adult buddy along. So we go on this bus tour "adventure"! 10-hour bus ride; camp in the friggin' boonies in the mountains, summer but had to wear winter coats at night! , and white-water rafting! (just another reason that my idea of travel anywhere includes room service....) We rafted the Arkansas River in Colorado. Since we were a tour group, there were maybe 8 rafts with maybe 10 people in a raft. My friend opted for one where she had to paddle and work 'cause she wanted the full experience! I opted for a raft that all you did was ride along and had an oarsman who did all the work. We had on insulated booties and plastic rain pants/jackets--the river water was ice-melt and soooo cold! And the life jackets did feel like straight jackets! It was breathtakingly beautiful, exhilarating, and wonderful until.......our raft hit what they called a suck hole that literally stopped the raft--it was supposed to be a fun tourist thing...I didn't fall OUT of the raft--I pitched head-first into the oar just as the oarsman had it out of the water and pulling back hard with the oar. Holy shit! That oar hit my forehead and knocked me out cold!!! From what I understand, someone grabbed me and pulled my head up because the bottom of the raft had lots of water that had splashed in and I was lying face down. The oarsman immediately beached the raft....and being a group thing, all the other rafts pulled over to see what the problem was.....I came to stretched out on the riverbank--right-side of my face laying in rocks while the oarsman poured ice water from the river over the left side of my face--closest thing to ice he could think of to combat the swelling. I was in a daze and wished I could die because I never like being the center of any attention. The oarsman was fussing at me (because he was terrified) that this was the FIRST time he'd had to break out a 1st-Aid Kit , ever, and I heard my friend screaming "is she okay?" and, I lifted my arm and FLIPPED her off! And, she yelled--""@*#&$$ she's okay, let' get this show on the road!" [we are still great friends and have shared many "adventures" since then....] So, I obviously opted out of rafting the second day as did a few others. We were offered a trail ride through the mountains. Trail ride/horses/piece of cake-----needless to say that was the LAST time I have been anywhere near a horse (and I did love to ride in my waaay younger days). Beautiful! Lots of great photo ops...until my horse stumbled on some loose rocks and almost fell while I held on for dear life. Horse got its' footing and stopped (maybe waiting for some signal from me or the trail guide--I could reach out with my right hand and touch the side of the mountain---looked to the left and all I could see was my knee, the horse's belly, and straight down to the valley at the bottom of the mountain! The trail was quite narrow at that point..............and, I promised myself that if I lived through that weekend I would never go white-water rafting or horseback riding gain! And, I Haven't!!! AND, you will never see sky diving on my 'bucket list"!!!
sorry this way soooo long, but hope y'all got some chuckles! Grabbing my dog beers and heading for the pool! Just let me know if anyone wants to have a most excellent adventure with me!!! LOL!!!!!!
-
Hi lounge lizards! Wow some good adventures here! Stanzie I have wanted to go white-water rafting in TN also...maybe the Ocoee (sp?)? Is that where you went? DON'T want to have a "junie" adventure though!!! Whoa, junie, we are SO fortunate you are still here with us....so many close calls! DD took me to a nice lunch at PFChangs w/ chocolate dessert w/ 1 candle in it! And she also brought a dz choc covered huge strawberries in a box...yummmmmmmmmm! Scary time a little bit ago though....DH went out to pick up dinner, and as he was leaving our street, about a dozen police cars going soooooo fast went past our house, plus an ambulance. Just found out on t he news there was a shooting....verrrrrrry rare for our subdivision....scary!!! IT made the "breaking news" just now, so not sure yet what all happened. Thank god I was in the middle of happy hour, or I sure would need a drink now!!! DD's are with the bio father right now, so I am still on pins and needles! Pants, and Jocks, maybe I DO need another drink....or three! Welcome to Claire...you are in good company as there are several in this lounge that live in WA.
Barmen!

LOL! NM, I thought that pic was of dog weenies!
Do NOT ask which dogs' weenies I've been looking at!
Lori, SO sorry I missed your birthday! I hope it was a happy one! I was busy working, a long flight home from Moscow as we had to divert to London to fix an engine issue. Gawd, I SO needed a drink after that flight and FINALLY had one at 11 p.m. when I got home (much later than usual).
Welcome to all the newbies, there's always someone to 'drink' with here!
Cheers!
-
Junie - Yikes very scary! I hate to be the center of attention too so I can imagine how dreadful that was on top of getting hit. I almost got hit with an oar yesterday. We were stopping to wait on the other boats on the side and we were coming over to the side close to a tree, the other guy thinks he will "show off" and stop hitting the tree with the oar well luckily when it hit it cause me to slide off which was very lucky as that oar would have slammed right into my face! I think the oars are the most dangerous part. The horse story is too scary!
Kathy - Oh can't imagine waiting while the girls are out with their "un" natural father (love that expression). Hope they are OK. Knowing you, they are well prepared to deal with whatever he comes up with but I know its hard. Heavens you are awfully busy expecially before leaving on a trip - makes me tired to hear about it all. Glad you had a nice lunch. Yes it was te Ocoee river - very pretty.
AStorm - hope your "cat" looks didn't freak out the dogs or your "new woofie personality"!
-
Oh - I'm starting to get a bit edgy about the whole nipple and areola surgery - is there a thread that address this? I have seen a little bit but nothing to really give me much to go on.... Thanks.
-
Crud...I'm so far behind...will need a couple daze 2 catch up...I'm sorry. The crazy train starts again tomorrow. I will ask Howard Kosell (sp) if he can announce the play by play on my gut between Mr. Pluggo (aka zofran or PUKE 1 -thanks HD) and Mr. Draino (aka exlax). Then when Mr. Nite Nite steps in (aka ativan or PUKE 3). PUKE 2 (aka compozzzzzzine) is mostly on the sidelines...
Love and hugs to you all....back in a flash (well proly mon or Wed). Cheers! Beeenster!!
-
Lori - Happy Belated Birthday!!! I slept for 14+ hours, so I missed your birthday last night! Darnit! Well, let's have some cocktails and hang out by the pool! Yipee!!!
-
I am just stumbling through for a nice tall cold one in the lounge. You guys are hysterical! I hope I can join you again!
-
ok, this isn't a hangover. I'm having a migraine. Just got back from grocery shopping... I have a million chores to get through before Wednesday. And I should be studying too. Maybe a need a little hair-of-the-dog?
-
I am bummed as manager of my favorite wine bar is leaving. Stopped by for a glass last night and had the most amazing cab blend. It's cool enough in Washington State to enjoy red wine this time of year. I will also miss her dog Malcolm.
I could have joined the salmon feast on the Waterfront, but decided to come home and make the "clean out the fridge" quiche that was beckoning. Then an amazing salad and other veggies with. Fresh peach for dessert.
Was planning on the early service today at church but slept in. Had a very busy couple of weeks including redoing all my credentials for job where I have been recommended. We shall see, as would be a wonderful next step in my career.
I am wondering if the exercisers/ members of the "swim up bar" club do better with sleep etc. than other women?
All the exercise from yesterday (20 mile bicycle ride + about 3 miles of walking) and two glasses of wine, and sleep was no problem!!!
-
So..... this morning I wake up and go to flush the toilet and it doesn't work. I look in the tank - not that I really know what I'm looking for just know that is what you are supposed to do. Yep there are all the thing-a-ma-bobs right there and they all look connected and move...?? but no water in the tank. So I get on line and look and read and go back and look in the tank and read some more.... So then I go to the sink. Uh Oh - no water??? Called neighbors - they have water.... Go outside - water pouring down the front of my yard!!!! Broken Poly-butulene pipe!! On Sunday.... not a good way to start.
But hey at least there is the pool, right!
-
Oh No Stanzie...looks like we can move the swim-up bar to your front yard! YIKES! Esp on a Sunday when repairs cost $$$! Hope you found someone who can fix it, or that the outside turn-off will work (depends where the broken pipe is) to get it turned off. Would be neat to meet up at the Ocoee sometime for rafting, although I have not ever done that yet! Well, maybe we could also go rafting in your front yard....j/k!
I am ready to monopolize the mimosa fountain and indulge in the scrumptious calore-free buffet! Got up so early to get to see part of the triathlon (as well as the end), and it was amazing. SIL did real well, but not in the upper-echelon yet, since this is about his 3rd or 4th race. Had some rain, but much lower temps than we've had lately, yet muggy. And to think they swam in the river (there are supposed to be snakes there...maybe someone scared them off beforehand!). Lot to do b4 leaving Wednesday....yikes...I am SO not ready yet!!!
ChEARS, Chairs, Chores, and......BARMEN!
Kathy
-
Kathy, that would be fabulous to meet and do that sometime..... It was fun and quite pretty.
So I do have a well but it isn't run to the house just an outside hose. So I opened my bathroom window, took off the screen, went out got the hose had to add two more to it for length and then climbed on a ladder and with the end of the hose wrapped in a dishtowel I swun it lasso style up and into the bathtub!!! It worked ! I am so proud of myself. Now if I could just get the kitchen sink to hold water then I can hold out till tomorrow when the plumbers rates are down!
