mornin ladies,
Those whipped drinks look so yummy, yea I liked the middle one too.
Jazzy that sounded exactly like Chicago to me but why didn't that guy have any accent.???
Anyone who is going to the front lines or out of their comfort zones, I can't even express how I feel or how to thank everyone for doing all of this. When all of this started it seemed like maybe 2 weeks incubation, which is so tolerable. Now no one knows how or when this will end, but how so many just took a hold of the situation and did whatever they could do. Amazing,
And homework I stopped helping a couple of yrs, ago, no way I could help at all now. What's going on in HS is nearly what was going on in college yrs ago.
We're kind of all in the same boat and u gals are all great, I'm kind of falling apart. I really never leave the house but about once a month an for some reason I want to leave the house as my choice. And I don't understand why people are still hoarding. There will be enough if all is shared equally. I'm really bitchy, Oh wait not with any of you gals, ur my light in this tunnel. It;s just me. I have to get out of this, oh I will I know just not today.

Sandy - Glad that things sound a bit less stressful re: Bob dealing w/patients/avoiding contamination. Quick question: What "greeting" is appropriate to wish someone at Passover? (sending a card to brother & SIL, who have converted to Judaism).
Jenny - Good to hear from you. Looking forward to when this thing is all over & I can take a trip to Cleveland area, hopfully hang out on that patio for an adult beverage!
Everyone - Sending uplifting thoughts your way.

OMG Goldie - As I have mentioned (a longggg time ago)) I tend to keep things! i am in the process of clearing out a bedroom that is full of 'treasures' and today I came across a crown royal bag just like the one above!!! I am off for tests Wednesday, so thinking I will put straps on the bag and wear as a mask!
Great idea, thank you

Hi, Celia--there are two traditional Passover greetings (the "ch" sound in Hebrew is like hocking up a loogie): "Chag sameach" (happy celebratory occasion, which also works for birthdays, graduations and anniversaries; and "A Zissen Pesach" (a sweet and zesty Passover).
I "broke out of stir" briefly today, driving to drop off & pick up dry cleaning. Mask, gloves, only one customer allowed inside at a time. (Saw one guy wearing an N95 mask and was gonna rag on him--but after he put his clothes in the car he walked into the Advocate Immediate Care clinic next door--so he's likely clinic staff). I did notice that the further south on B'way I drove (from Edgewater where I live to Andersonville, where the cleaner is) fewer people out on the street--especially joggers who exhale with open mouths as they run--were wearing masks. I've found that if the top band is bent well enough to be snug on the nose, my glasses hardly fog up at all.
Just got done watching City Winery's "Downtown Seder," hosted by owner Michael Dorff from the Hudson Valley location. Unsurprisingly, he suggested that viewers indulge in more than just the "four cups" of wine mandated in the ritual. He was drinking a Cava they bottled in Spain (by a winery there with which they have a partnership), a Lake County (Mendocino) Sauvignon Blanc, and a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. All CW's private label--and each branch actually makes a different wine each week or two on-premises. My DOTD is some more of that bubbly from Cellars.
-
Hi Cami!!
-
What a great idea! I have a whole stack of Crown Royal bags in my closet.
-
First day back at work in 4 weeks - one week off for Craig and then the 3 week spring break. Several zoom/google meets meetings. It is definitely a new way of working!
Ran to Petco to return a dog harness and pick up a couple things. Had my mask, hand sanitizer and lysol wipes. Yesterday, our beautiful 1.5 yo Dobie, Brio - gorgeous red neutered male joined our family. After 7 months without a fur baby. Trying to upload a photo, but bco won't cooperate.
Tomorrow after work, I need to go to the grocery store. Tried to place a pick up order yesterday, but I wouldn't have it in time for the start of Passover Wednesday night. I will have my mask, gloves, wipes and hand sanitizer. Just heard on the news that King Soopers (Kroger Company) is going to limit number of people in the store and possibly have one way aisles. Glad they are doing it, but it will make it longer to get in - but to be safe, I won't complain. Especially since DH is high risk.
-
Meet Brio (I had to copy/paste the picture that I had on fb).
-
Karen what a beautiful furbaby.
Shellshine you said hello, I say it back but my memory ain't what it used to be. Help me.
We have a lily here now too. Welcome anyone who joins in. This is a great group make sure u come back and share. Well we're all in so we all have time.
Sandy u got brave, Leslie had to run to the Drs. office cuz of a UTI, then tomorrow for a shot. She's driving me crazy But they do get her in and out really fast. Otherwise our reg. Dr. is doing all "visits" on the phone, which has to be done in 2 weeks for me. I'm certainly not taking my own blood or BP so those r the 2 main things. Wow this is crazy stuff.
OK I have my Xanax so now we'll see. TADA
Sleep well everyone, keepsafe.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! I am sitting here listening to a weather report calling for up to a foot of snow at the end of the week! Again! I mean, really, Mother Nature, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM??????? At least it was sunny and warm enough to sit in the car and eat lunch yesterday. A blessed break from breathing through a mask, that was. It's funny, but yesterday things seemed calmer at work yesterday, less drama, less angst. People are starting to realize that this is going to be our normal for some time to come, I think. Sadie says Hi to everyone.
Goldie--I have seen a couple people from the old job, things are not going well. They are not getting much PPE, being told to get masks from the facilities they visit, and don't need them for visiting people at home. So not right, and so short sighted. More people have left, and a couple of nurses from there have left nursing. So sad.
Genny--Good to see you! Glad the patio is coming along, even if it isn't warm enough to enjoy it yet. I hear you about muddy paw prints!
Cammy Cat--Everyone is going to have their moment(s) of falling apart during all this. I know what you mean about not leaving home being harder now. I generally don't go much of anywhere on weekends, but now I find myself wanting to go shopping or something, and then a little miffed that I can't. It's all about choice, isn't it? We'll make it, though.
Good morning, Celia!
Goldie--YEAH!!
Morning, Janky!
Chi--I like the idea of someone recommending indulging in more than just 4 cups of wine!
Welcome to Shellshine and lilyfrombeppu!
Karen--Congratulations on the new furry family member! What a handsome boy!
Cammy Cat--Lent and Easter seem to have gotten lost in the virus thing.
Cottontail Martini
Makes 1 martini
Here's what you will need:
1.5 ounces whipped vodka (or vanilla vodka)
1.5 ounces coconut rum
2 ounces half and half
1/2 ounce cream of coconut
Splash of pineapple juice
Honey, chopped sweetened coconut, and marshmallow to garnish
Begin with two shallow dishes. To one, add a teaspoon of honey. To the other, add the sweetened coconut. (I recommend giving the coconut a rough chop before using.) Rim the edge of the martini glass first in the honey and then in the coconut. Set aside.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the whipped vodka, coconut rum, half and half, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice. Shake vigorously; then strain into your prepared martini glass.
Using a knife, make a small slit in a marshmallow. Slip the marshmallow on the side of the martini glass.
Sip and enjoy!

Mornin' ladies,
Good DOTD Kim. Make sure u always give sadie extra rubs from all of us. She's ur partner and doing a great partner. And ur rite Kim somehow lent/Easter got lost with our 40 days and yet the first time they laid down the law to stay in it was for 40 days. But it seems lies it's going to be longer now. My cousins wife is still in Germany and been there for over a month. I don't know how they are working it out yet, I talked to him last nite and we had to LOL cuz she always makes lists for him to get things done. Now she texts them, she's so bossy and I tease him about the German in her can't help it. I know he misses her but I think he's getting a break from her lists. He's working from home and she doesn't work, but those lists are always there. If u member her son was in the VA for a while and she was there everyday and was bossing everyone aroun til they put in a complaint about her and she was called in an office and they gave her a warning about being to tough on her job so she was up for 2 more warnings, then she told them she didn't even work there. Somehow they thought she did. She does have goodness in her just bossy. I always tease her.
It's strange cuz everyone is planning Easter but no one is going anywhere. All the sale papers are showing dinners for 8-10, I have seen any for 3-4 yet. But a lot of restaurants are going to be open for pick up or delivery for people and maybe that might be the way to go. Actually it would cost about the same with very little work. I don't really care what we eat so I'm fine with whatever they decide. We usually vote so I'm in with Joey.
Oh all of a sudden it hit me Kim SNOW still, what's going on up there. We've been having rain around 60 here well so far but who knows. I member I was hoping for a snow day for Joey, but I think I over wished this time.
Did anyone read in FB, in 1720, 1820 1920 an now 2020 there were all pandemics in history. A little eerie.
Oh I pray maybe there will be some good news today so we can have a betterfeeling about it getting under control.

I need to go to the grocery store today - thought I'd go after work (working remotely), but decided I'll go when they open at 7:00 - that way fewer people have been in the store to spread germs. The last time I went at 7:00 was over 60 shopping and crowded. Hopefully it won't be this morning.
Have a great day!

Hi friends- catching up here and sounds like everyone is doing okay. With the holidays this week, hard to plan on things unless you live with people. I don't nor am I one to celebrate the religious holidays traditionally. I usually go sit in the hot springs on Easter Sunday. Not this year though.
I was out yesterday for a bit and tried to shop at Sam's Club but had the hours screwed up with the changes (not correct on line either), so instead I went to Lowes to start my "victory garden" based on something I saw on CBS Sunday morning this week. I have not done a veggie garden in some time because my property is not ideal for it, but decided to do some plants in pots and got some purple kale, baby romaine, and an heirloom tomato plant yesterday. Some flowers too and will do some planting in the back yard, otherwise known as my refuge. Shhh, don't tell the neighbors.....
Our gov extended the stay at home order yesterday to end of the month, which is no surprise. Her original orders she issued on 3/11 including reducing time out, then on 3/23 she tightend up the stay at home orders through that date. We are expected to hit our peak here in a few more weeks. Right now we are pushing 700 dx, about 50 in the hospitals state wide, 12 deaths. NM has been noted nationally for doing a great job so far, but had learned listening to the Gov last week they have been practicing pandemic drills for a couple years now. We are really sort of behind here on a lot of stuff, but thankful they have been preparing for this. I am praying for NYC, NOLA, Detroit, Chicago and many other places really not doing well right now.
Cami- sorry you cannot have a party for your sister or much of any kind of celebration right now. Remember those can be celebrated later, make a list so you don't forget!
Chi and Karen- blessings to you both on the Passover holiday. Karen, what a cute pup!
Goldie- my sister can more talk to her partner than have her return any conversation. With the respirator in her throat, it requires some type of speaking device and not sure if that is in or not. She says some days when they do Facetime, her partner does not want to participate. It is good they try, I think maybe more so for my sister to see they are taking care of her. And about her not taking my advice to begin with, that is the typical dynamic of the older to younger sister paradigm. I have some friends who have similar relationships with their older sisters so it seems to be a thing in some families. I hope your family is doing okay......
NM- wow, a foot of snow? We can get snow here in New Mexico in to April, but we have not had much snow here in the new year. Early spring for sure. I think someone needs to tell Old Man Winter it's time to hibernate? I am sorry to hear the old place is struggling too, no doubt the majority of supplies are going to the hospitals right now.
Shell and Lily- welcome to our thread!
Genny- how are you faring through treatment? How is DH doing too? Lots of change for both of you this year with everything going on.
Ill- how are you doing sister? Any improvements with food, speaking, etc.?
Mistyeyes, Janky, Celia C, Teka- hoping your day is good and some of you maybe enjoying some early spring? Okay, maybe not Janky as she is way far north and maybe too soon?
I am on a small-ish board with a prof org and doing some clean up on their current member list. They were talking about doing some targeted communications and said do we have a good list of current members? They said they get one monthly and said "send it to me." Because I have done a lot of work here in town with the healthcare industry, I know a lot of people on that list. Their list was really outdated including people I know are no longer active with retirements, moves out of state, and there was even a person on that list that I worked with long ago that passed in the last 10 years. Going to clean some things up and help them get a solid list for the going forward. Going to try to help on a volunteer basis with things where I can in the industry until my work can start again.
There is going to be a super moon tonight called the Pink Moon and it has been really pretty here as it has been coming into fullness the past week. Be sure you get out to see it tonight if you can!
Stay well friends. Will check in again soon.....
-
Just me,
J A Z Z Y----WHERE IS THE PICTURE OF THE PINK MOON. It's storming here so no seeing that tonite. Wow u can always find so much to do, u can't stop. Wish I had a smidgen of ur energy, you wouldn't even miss it.
Karen that many people were in the store at that time??? I know that's supposed to be for seniors but I guess I just thought most wouldn't be out.

Jazzy - beautiful
Cami - there were 20 - 25 people max.
-
Jazzy, this calls for--if you can find it--a video of Nick Drake's classic "Pink Moon."
Bummed out that John Prine died tonight. He was a huge influence on me, although nobody--not even Dylan or Springsteen--could so accurately reflect ordinary life with so few and beautifully-arranged words and chords. He had some terrible health challenges--throat & neck cancer in 1998-9 that caused his voice to go gravelly, and then in the past decade lung cancer, resulting in the loss of a lung.
Tonight was a dry run of Seder (in case Bob doesn't get home early enough tomorrow night). He brought home a Costco roast chicken; I made matzo ball soup, charoset (good ol' Ashkenazi-style with apples, crushed matzo, walnuts, cinnamon, honey and Concord grape wine--instead of that weird Sephardic date & fig jammy paste I brought home from Israel last year), and grilled asparagus. Truth to tell, since my iCal said Passover was Wed. the 8th, I assumed that "Erev Pesach" (Jewish holidays start at sundown the night before) was tonight. iCal always lists the High Holy Days as starting on their first full day, so my assumption was logical. We will do Seder again tomorrow night (gonna tweak the chicken soup, this time not from mix). We both thought it, but were afraid to say until after, that even though it's just us two it might be our last. DOTD was Manischewitz sacramental wine for 3 of the 4 "cups" (I used cordial glasses) and an Alsatian riesling (in normal glasses) as the 4th, and with the gefilte fish & chicken.
Bob's EKG tech quit today, after finding out he saw COVID patients over the weekend. (Albeit in full PPE and staying 6 ft. away). Her husband retired and wanted her to, so this was her excuse. Bob suggested that if she needs an income & insurance she should go to work for one of the cardiologists who refuses to go to hospitals. So he & his two part-time nurses will have to do EKGs themselves...assuming there are any to do. Those nurses aren't getting any younger too--but not yet old enough for Medicare (nor is his partner who is facing radiation for her own bc), so he has to keep the practice going for at least 3 more years, with a patient base that's dwindling and not coming back. He's cut his draw by 2/3 and we've had to start dipping into our retirement savings.
It hit 80F, even here by the lake. But I didn't dare take a fitness walk--too many careless selfish crazies out there. I got my outdoor fix by taking out the recycling (including breaking down shipping boxes now that they were safe to touch) and--ugh--cat litter, then sitting on the deck soaking up the afternoon rays (after peak UV time) chatting across the fence with my next-door neighbor. We're going to lose power in the morning when the arborist comes to take down the huge ailanthus tree at the edge of our property by the alley--its roots caused the fence to heave and warp. So I have to unplug all my (now fully-charged) electronics lest their batteries drain while plugged into dead lines. (TVs, etc. are on surge-suppressors, VOIP phone has a backup battery). Then the new & improved fence will go up. Our neighbor will then (supposedly) have the concrete slab poured on Thurs. and garage built on Fri. I say "supposedly" because the temps will go back down into the high 30s tomorrow night and not crawl up out of the 40s for most of the week (not to mention rain).

Love the moon picture, Jazzy! Our governor issued a Work or Home order. He also said you could visit family! Well, yesterday he had to qualify that to only visit family if they need assistance. People thought it was permission to party with your cousins. LOL! DH and I took a long car ride to a dam and reservoir for an inside the car picnic. There were people fishing and some sitting in the sun. People were fairly far apart. Did not have my kids over last night. Out cases and deaths from Covid-19 keep going up. Guess I will crawl under a rock and wait this out.
Will walk this morning and do some housework. Might phone some friends to check in on how they are doing. So sorry about John Prine. DH sang many of his tunes in the band.
-
Good morning girls, hope to get my typing done before my DH wakes up and asks me a million questions about how I can possibly have so much to say. This constant togetherness is starting to get to me, he has an answer for everything and he's decided to take the week off from drinking so now he's giving me shit about my nightly wine. That aside I'm not in a good place right now, trying to stay busy, I've been putting photos in albums and they go back to my childhood. My kids send me pics and videos and they are growing up and I'm missing it, I'd love to just sit down and cry but then my DH will tell me what I should do to feel better, and what I'm doing wrong that I feel this way, ugh! I do have a phone appt with a shrink next week, my MO scheduled that when I got my dx but it kept getting cancelled. I just have this terrible feeling that if I get the virus I will die and my only alternative is to stay home and never see my family again and that is really more depressing than dying. I mean how could someone with a white blood count of 2 survive this, and my treatment is forever and pretty much at least for now so is this virus! I don't know how to get out of that loop that keeps going though my mind. DH went golfing the other day and I got to have happy hour with Molly and that helped but just in the moment. I do think it would help if I started to exercise so I'm going to try and push myself into that today. Anyway, enough of my whining...
NM, Glad to hear it's getting a little more relaxed at work, eventually it's going to just be the norm I guess. Hope you keep the crud out of your facility, so far so good at my MIL's and the place that I worked in. They did stop all salon services there last week so I wouldn't be workin even if I hdn't retired. I was watching the news and saw that storm heading your way and immediately thought of you... ugh, snow would just about push me into the hole, we got a crazy thunderstorm with lots of hail last night, pooches were tucked up tight in our bed!
Jazzy, sounds like you are staying busy, I did go to Lowe's the other day, still to cold for planting here but I bought some pots of springtime flowers just for color, oh and a beautiful Easter Lilly. DH has been doing the grocery shopping so I had him get a rack of lamb for Easter and I'll send some over to his mom. I'm going to make some Waldorf salad, my mom always made it on Easter so I've got to look up a good recipe for it. The moon picture is beautiful!
Cami, glad to hear you got your Xanax, I took one last night, wanted to sleep through the thunder and it worked. The walls can get mighty small when you live with other people, glad to have my DH around but oh there are moments! Interesting about the 100 year pandemics, I have to look that up.
Goldie, that mask is so funny, Molly who's still in Florida said she saw a guy using the Crown Royal one the other day, I'll have to see if my DH wants me to make one for him, he uses the bags for golf tees. I'm glad you're getting to do your planting, still another month away here other that some seeds I have started indoors. The quad sounds like fun, a good safe way to get out and about. I have a cardiologist appt on Monday to replace the one I went to last month, they called yesterday to see if I wanted to come in person and I said yes since it's my first time, I'd like to actually meet her.
Celia, Ill be looking forward to getting together as well, hope it's sooner rather that later and we can go sit at a restaurant on the water, doesn't that just sound divine?
Sandy, oh I hope we never get told we can't walk outside, that is one thing that helps, I'm in a suburban enough area to be spread out enough that I can walk the dogs and never get close to people, plus bike riding is an option. They did close metro park with skinny trails and in some they closed the streets so pedestrians can go there too and still keep a safe distance.
Karen... yay to new fur baby!!! He's beautiful! What's his story?
Janky, my next project is going to be closets, it occurred to me yesterday that I never wear anything that's in it these day, I pull sweats and a teeshirt out of the drawer each morning, I may take everything and put it in my upstairs closet until I can actually leave the house again. I'll dress in my favorite jeans for my doctor appts. Not wearing a lot of make-up these days either. Send us a pic of you wearing your new mask!
Illemae, always thinking of you and everyone I'm missing, stay safe! XOXO

Mornin' ladies,
Oh my stars, it got so warm yesterday, I thought I had a fever. Sandy it was upper 70's here but storms, I was surprised. I've closed myself off to the news mostly and that means weather too.
Beautiful pic. Jazzy, but I don't see a pink moon, but TY for taking it and if anyone can find a video of anything I'd count on Jazzy to do it.
Sandy so she just up and quit like that. <not that I blame her> but now Bob just has more work to do. When he stops at the store does he wear his mask, just curious.. I wonder even tho u wear all the garb for this virus if u can build up resistance being so exposed to it so much. I think it has to be over 130degrees in order to kill it. So our normal heat won't do it. U really go all out for just the 2 of you, how nice tho. I guess all religions and nationalities have their own foods to celebrate occasions, I know we do. For Easter we have calzone, made with ricotta and sausage an all the flavors in a 18 in pie like crust, so good. And it;s for Christmas too, along with the 7 fishes and <hold on> onion pie. Made in a 9x13 pan. If u like onions u'd like this one. But my mom taught Jodie how to make these 2 so for sure we don't have any this year. She taught all of her grandchildren different things when she knew she was leaving us, of course not her D's, she knew us to well.
OK praying to hear good news today.

Janky, you'll have to share a picture of your Crown Royal mask.Karen, they are limiting customers in the store here in our Wal Marts. Brio looks very happy. You like your big fur babies!
Cami, glad you got your Xanax. I'm hoping my appt. will be by phone too, that would be so great! You sure have odd sleeping patterns!
NM, your weather is horrible! Glad you got a break from the mask at lunch time, just wearhing one while shopping yesterday for an hour was horrible. Thanks for the drama update at the old place. So glad you are not there anymore. Of course you are in with voting with what Joey likes, and besides, you don't eat anything anyways!
Jazzy, be safe out there shopping. I'm needing some seeds really badly! For our area where I am, most of the cases are within the Apache and Navajo indians, and that looks like the case for NM too, 4 corners area. And most in MI are in the Det. area, but still pretty big in the counties where my family is. Ok, so your SIL is awake and understands, but can't talk due to respirator. Saw the full moon, but it didn't look pink to me. Pretty pic, love the purple blooms in the foreground. Lilacs?
JCS, nice outing and picnic lunch with DH. We do that on occasion and go sit by a lake in town. Usually we have pizza or Firehouse subs.
Mary, I'm so sorry you are down. Can you go for a walk alone and get a good cry out? I think your DH is just trying to be helpful? This is all still new to you, so you are going to have those bad days. I feel if I get the virus, I too would die. Have you been face timeing with the girls?
Yesterday for me, this is just what I posted on FB....Oh boy, what a day. Up at 3 am to hit Wal Mart for senior shopping at 6 am. (needed some coffee before leaving and it's an hour away) Not a good idea. Long line of seniors waiting to get in at 6 am. Got out of there around 7 am, and there was no one waiting to get in for normal shopping hours. But I think I'm good for a month, and much longer on many other items. Came home, disrobed on the porch, showered, and all of those clothes washed. Every single thing we bought was wiped down with a bleach cloth. Dinner, burgers on the grill, toasted buns with homemade bbq sauce on them, grilled pineapple, bacon and sautéed onions.....YUM!

Hi friends- just a quick pop in. Been working on the gardens and got one corner in pretty good shape. I see a family of little mice has taken up residence along the border gardens and saw them doing sommersaults along the way with each other today. I think I need a cat, but with allergies, I cannot have one. Fortunately, a neighborhood cat has been found visiting early in the mornings and can use her help.
Genny- oh your DH is not helpful right now is he? Well you know men like to fix things and he can't really fix any of this. So much stress with the changes and now with this pandemic that helps nothing. Although I don't have a significant other, I have learned with family and friends who like to tell me what to think or how to feel that I have to just create a boundary and say "I am sorry, but that is not helpful to me right now. What I can use help with is ......" I think we all have people who have difficulty support us in times like this and well, everyone is struggling right now, right? Your DH has been struggling with your health changes from the get go. Good for him that he chose not to imbibe this week, maybe you don't need that? I am glad you have some good food planned for Easter sunday sister. Sending a big virtual hug.
Cami- they call it the "pink moon" as it comes in April when many flowers are blooming. The night before last it had a pinkish glow though, last night was more big and yellow. I saw it setting this morning over the mesa and it was nice then too.
Chi- I was bummed to hear about John Prine too. I knew he had been in the hospital for a couple weeks now and not doing well. A friend shared something on FB that he had battled lung cancer a few years back and only had one lung. Poor guy. His music was legendary. I will look for that song you suggested too.
Okay that's it for now friends. Stay well and try not to let this crazy get you down......
